No but I'm sure I saw her in The Saint and of course she was the second Juliet Bravo
I just watched an episode of 'Ashenden', in which AC plays the German wife of a character played by Alan Bennett. In it, she appears to speak German very well.
Does anyone know if she is, in fact, fluent in that language?

Anna was indeed in an episode of The Saint called A Portrait Of Brenda, which also starred the late Trevor Bannister. Anna played a singer and did the same song that Grazina Frame later sang in the Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) episode That's how Murder Snowballs.

Thanks sorry I cannot help with your original enquiry wheelieman
Sorry, I can't shed any light on her linguistic prowess. I've not long ago watched Juliet Bravo on DVD, and she is magnificent as Inspector Kate Longton.
Hattie Morahan is her daughter!
Hi,
I saw her perform live a few years ago at The Watford Palace Theatre with Belinda Lang. I think the play was called Sitting Pretty. She was very good.

I edited the 'Ashenden' series and though it was a long time ago I seem to recall that Anna spoke the German but with a degree of hesitation which was tightened during editing. It would be my guess that she had some knowledge of the language (perhaps from school) but that she was certainly no longer fluent. Is that of any help?
Hi,
Yes. It was a shock to the system at my age. I had to have an ice cream during the interval to cool me down. She was not like that in Juliet Bravo. But it was very tastefully done.

I am on the mailing list; bus stops outside the door; booked for matinee; few weeks later was informed by someone, play was a bit risque; went to see it; and it was. But it was not pornographic and was very, very carefully handled. Despite this, my glasses still steamed up. If I recall, she portrayed a woman who had a sheltered life. She joined an art group. Next thing, she finds herself being goaded to pose for a lesson. There was a bit more to the story than that. She gave a splended performance. It could have been very seedy, but it wasn't. Tastefully done. Glasses still needed wiping though. Sorry you missed it.
