I think there was an early role there for a VERY young Jude Law....

IIRC he picked up the part of the stuffed Tiger ;-)

My uncle is friends with a fellow who was at college with Anthony Mingella and is still in touch. He was told that Mingella was desperately unhappy with Law's performance in Cold Mountain but the studio wouldn't hear of him being replaced. Its obvious to everyone who's seen the film that Nicole Kidman wouldn't have waited a week for Law to return let alone 4 years. He just doesn't have any charisma or screen presence at all hence the absolute dismal flop of Alfie, a part that relies on it more than any. And as for playing the 'Alpha' male in 'Talented Mr Ripley'......a self loving charlatan to the point that it actually annoys me. My therapist sais I shouldn't let him bother me. Next time Mingella should hire Denis Law,

lol

When he first emerged, I thought he may just have something, but since then I have RADICALLY revised that opinion to the point of violent

Just a pretty boy, I am afraid, with nothing ; unlike pretty boys of the past like Terence Stamp, who's so cool he's cold

Wholeheartedly agree. The guy comes over as just being too pleased with himself in all his roles. One smug git.

With a stupid name. Saw his attempt at Errol Flynn in "THE AVIATOR" 2004 last week, very poor. He has no star attribution's or acting gift just a stupid name. And if he is 6' tall as it says on IMDb the Pope's a Jew.

I thought he was good in "Artificial Intelligence", but then again, he was playing a machine, so the role must have come easy to him.

On the subject of Anthony Minghella, if you ever go for a "ruby", (curry), on the Isle of Wight, you will generally find Minghella's Ice Cream on the sweet menu. It's his parents famous business, so if Hollywood loses faith in him, he can always don a white hat and coat and dish out up-market 99's on Ryde seafront.

Ah Yes, the Soviet Union. All them wheatfields and ballet in the evenings

'Tis a shame that some actors get so wrapped up in their own importance that their perfomances are affected, unfortunately in the case of Jude Law they are seriously affected! I thought that A.I. was very well directed and good to look at but,the subject matter was a little too strained and gratuitous at times and too me, Jude Law looked like a prancing manakin and acted like one, ah well we can't have it all ways.....!Regards, Decks.
P.S. any other actors you feel are wrapped up in their own self-importance?

"and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock"
