And whatever film he was in I could never forget...
Hi.
I don`t mean actors we don`t like, far from it. But what actors send shivers up your spine in the roles they are in?
I have always had a scary aversion to Ralph Bates, and Derrick De Marney as Uncle Silas frightens me.

Margaret Hamilton has always creeped me out!
Roland Young played Uriah Heep Brilliantly........A Creep if there ever was one
The actor on the right, BECAUSE he always reminds me of when he was the graveyard man in The whicker man. Here he is still going on about graves
I always think of Ralph Bates as that nice John at the 121 club so it is a shock to see him in a creepy role!
Two actors who do creep me out though are Christopher Walken (although he's also weirdly attractive) and Joss Ackland, who is just satisfyingly slimy in all roles.
Frank Silva as Killer Bob in Twin Peaks.

More than 20 years on he's still the scariest thing I've ever seen. And he's at the end of your bed![]()
Denholm Elliott, in pretty much any role he's in. He just has the knack for that sort of thing.
Robert Helpmann as Child Catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Nightmare stuff.
Not frightening, but disturbingly oily/creepy in their own way:
Donald Pleasence
Vincent Price
Henry Woolf
Milton Johns
Sheer terror (when I was about 10):
Richard Krüger - the wicked dwarf in The Singing Ringing Tree
The ageing Bette Davis and that warbly voice always put the wind up me far more than Cushing, Lee or Karloff ever did

Lawrence Tierney in "Born to Kill"!
John Justin as 'Vanderhausen' in 'Schalken the Painter' (BBC 1979) & as 'Dorabellas Father' in 'Supernatural-'Dorabella'' (BBC 1977)
I can't post a pic unfortunately but he is a VERY creepy looking bloke in these two performances!
Javier Bardem as Anton Chigurh in "No Country for Old Men"
