Just back from seeing the superb musical about Judy Garland, End of the Rainbow, with Tracie Bennett in the lead and one of Scotland's most talented sons, Hilton McRae in support.
I've long been a fan of Hilton's. He only has 38 screen credits (most of them tiny), amongst them a role in Return of the Jedi, the 1999 version of Mansfield Park (playing Fanny Price's father opposite real life wife Lindsay Duncan as her mother), The Execution of Gary Glitter, and roles in Red Riding, Lewis, Midsomer Murders, Injustice and more.
On stage he's shown versatility in plays and musicals (memorably in Twelfth Night in Bradford when he appeared as a folk singing, guitar playing Feste in tights and high heels, and the Royal Festival Hall's Wizard of Oz as the Scarecrow). I think he's always been under the radar but has always been a performer of quality.
