Sadly, Ken Parry passed away the other week. It's tragic to think how many great thesps have passed away in the three or four years thatI've been on the Internet. Maybe they were always popping their clogs that regularly, but this is the first time I've been paying so much attention. My Mum worked with half these people at the Beeb in the 60s, so we regularly keep each other updated.

As for Marianne Stone, I believe she's still out there somewhere. Now, pursuant to my earlier post , does ANYONE know what became of Karl Lanchbury?

Derek Francis

difficult to believe he was only 61 when he died in 1984 - genuinely memorable in films as varied as the Carry Ons and Roger Corman's The Tomb Of Ligeia

Thats the joke that killed the Music Hall !

Marianne Stone is listed as making an appearance in something called “Horror Icon”, though I’m not sure if this is a film or a documentary. Theres a reference to it at the bottom of this page though

It would be interesting to know just how many films Marianne Stone appeared in! If it was British and black and white she would be in there somewhere.
Of course she was in loads of colour productions as well.
I would think, given the number of roles over the years, she probably ended up earning more in the long run than many of the transient leading actors she supported.

I also am a bit puzzled by the names some people have listed as forgotten. Joe Gladwin is still on our TV's regularly, in the endless re-runs of "Last of the Summer Wine" (as dear old Wally Batty). Like wise, Findlay Currie. He is always popping up on our screens in one of his many films. And is Michael Horden really forgotten?

Has anyone mentioned Peter Reynolds? He had a steady career in films and TV and was a decent actor (usually playing shady blokes).

Marianne Stone is listed as having 222 credits on imdb, more than most. She was married to actor/journalist/film historian Peter Noble & is the mother of sacked Capital Radio presenter Kara Noble. Another load of useless info for you all

If you do a search there's quite a long thread about Marianne Stone from last year. She's not forgotten here at Britmovies!

Hey, nothing to apologise for! I just wish I could find a nice picture of her to post. When not playing old hags, Miss Stone was a bit of a looker in her day.

What about Sam Kydd who played so many roles on British films and television. One of those faces you instantly recognise but can never remember the name. I would have loved to have met him, but sadly never did. A good jobbing character actor. Sadly missed.

I was watching James Hayter playing Mr. Tebbs in Are You Being Served. The poor old chap could hardly walk.
