Default Forgotten character players....

Forgotten character players....so forgotten that they do not appear in any reference books ! You recognise them immediately, but can you name them ?

Ken Parry (fat man, usually in rather camp roles)....played gents haidresser in
yesterday's THE SWEENEY on 1TV4 . Very distinctive...good as morticians, undertakers, florists .....

George Murcell ....played heavies in 1950s Rank films, and later often with wig/false beard as villains in ITC series

Ken Jones ....sorrowful looking scouser. He played a dole office clerk in GUMSHOE

Joe Gladwin....the authentic downtrodden voice of working class Manchester in numerous tv roles

Do you have any others whose names deserve to be better known?

Diminutive, plump, redheaded, cockney character actress, Rita Webb - a familiar face on British tv (mostly in comedies) in the 60s and 70s.

Gertan Klauber
I mention him as he popped up on my radar twice this weekend. Marcus in Carry On Cleo and then as Mad King George in an episode of Blackadder III

Derek Deadman ..... performer in many 70s/80s films and TV series including Never Say Never Again and Michael Winner's The Big Sleep in which he appeared as a collector of 'art' books and was memorably followed by Robert Mitchum, ending up in a hedge! He also appeared a commercial for cakes, IIRC 'Franzipan Crumbles'. I haven't seen him in anything for years.

I loved Queenie Watts and Rita Webb!.......Rita was a semi-regular in 'Till death us do part', plus she had a small part in 'To Sir with love', amogst many TV and Film roles, and I liked the 70's sit-com 'Yus my dear' where Queenie was married to Arthur Mullards character, I believe she ran a pub in London's East-end until her premature death on I think New years day 1980

One character Actor I cannot think of the name of but his face is familiar with a handle-bar moustache and looks 'old school', is one who starred in a Hammer horror (early 70's maybe) where he played a sadistic Doctor in a Mental asylum, after getting his Patients to make him 'laugh', he turns to his young male assistant and says to him "now it's your turn to make me laugh, but that's the only scene I recall, he also played a Judge in the sit-com 'The Good life', and I also recall him in an episode of 'Fawlty Towers' where he says "a Bordeaux is a Claret"!

That's the one!.......Thank you for posting Dremble Wedge, plus love the pics Wearysloth, Queenie sure looks Bonnie there!........Queenie sang in the Movies 'Alfie', and 'Sparrows can't sing', I know Marianne Stone too, she is the Mother of Kara Noble who once sold a naughty photo of Sophie Wessex to the dreadful 'Sun' newspaper, then she scarpered off to America, two Movies that have come to mind (amongst the very many!)of Marriane are 'Woman in a dressing gown' playing a snooty hairdresser, and 'Hell drivers' as a Nurse, as for Stella Tanner I believe she was in the soap 'Eastenders', which I don't watch (too miserable) but I recall her in an episode of 'Fawlty Towers'.

She once made the great remark "Why can't I play bleedin' Lady Bracknell"
