Default Wrote the theme toon...

Wrote the theme toon... sang the theme toon...

Poor Dennis Waterman. I don't think he ever did actually write a theme tune, did he? He sang a few though - apart from Minder and New Tricks, how many others?

What was the best role Den ever played - for me it's George Carter in The Sweeney (and his superannuated close relative in New Tricks). A brighter and more comples character than the parodies allow...

His missus at the time, Patricia Maynard, wrote the lyrics for Minder and the credit for writing them was given to "Waterman"

I think that's the closest he ever got to writing a feme toon (or lyrics)

Steve

Hi Graeme,

Your reference to "wrote the theme toon...." of course refers to the Little Britain comedy sketches.

The one thing I could never work out with the LB routine is why they made Dennis look so small? Were they trying to say that Dennis thought himself a bigger star than he really was?

Anyone have an answer?

Dave.

Waterman was in a really rubbish comedy called "On the Up' a few years back and he did indeed sing the theme toon on that one.

"Just the one, Mrs Wembley?"

Tony Hatch & Jackie Trent's daughter, Michelle, was in it; I quite liked it actually!

Okay, I admit to enjoying watching 'Mind Your Language' when it was on. However, I was 4 years old at the time, so legally not liable for my actions.
