By the way, Mr.Atkinson is doing fine. We see him most days, and a more naturally sombre person it would be difficult to meet. I just can't ever forgive him for adding to the level of disrespect shown to our police force by taking the p*** every chance he got. Cheap laughs for shed-loads of money. It wasn't funny though when his little boy was attacked in Oundle by a bunch of yobs.

Seems a bit harsh to blame him for the police reputation Homey? If I recall some of the pops in the 80s were aimed at the SPG, regional crime squad etc and they were very high profile. Rowan wasn't alone. The 'Thin Blue Line'? Just a comedy show based in a Police Station. Authority figures are always in the comedians 'gunsight'. I have a couple of friends that are coppers and they admit that as with any big organisation, there's always a couple of twats somewhere who will do something daft that makes the tabloids. I'd look at the press before I looked at comedians.
