Bernard Cribbins was in the 2007 Doctor Who Christmas special and will also appear in the series starting in the spring.

He also read a series of short stories for Radio 4 last Christmas - Cribbins at Christmas.

"A Walk in the Park with Hodges" by Alan Plater
"Ho! Ho! Ho!" by Stephen Wyatt
"The Happy Prince" by Oscar Wilde
"Mr Bromley's Folly" by Roy Apps

He should have become a bigger star with his talent. But for a stray plastic bullet he would have been a Carry On regular and he would have done more films with Peter Sellers and Lionel Jeffries if one of Sellers cronies hadn't said "ere Pete, that Lionel Jeffries is even funnier than you are". Sad because they were a wonderful 'team' in Two Way Stretch and The Wrong Arm Of The Law.

George was just the first of a few young actors that Alastair & Naomi coached and nurtured. One other one was Karl Howman who started off very well with things like Brush Strokes and Mulberry but finished up becoming best known for doing ads for bathroom cleaners. Still, I suppose it pays the bills.

Naomi's memoir of her life with Alastair, Dance and Skylark is well worth reading

Me n'Mrs Harley saw Karl in 'Me and My Gal' some years back, great show! GC? Top drawer, just magic, I love him! Arthur Daley is one of my most favouite characters..........better than 'DelBoy' for me! BUT, Flash was just ....well... the best ever, the music, the walk, the...........everything!!

He also read some audiobooks (Dickens)...

In fact, looking at all the performers on their site they've got some stunning British actors reading stuff!!

Edward Fox, Julie Christie, Derek Jacobi, Ian Richardson to name a few!

George Cole is interviewed by Mark Lawson on BBC4 tv on
Wednesday 26th March at 11.00pm. This has been an excellent series of
hour-long interviews and I'm sure this one will be well worth watching

Hope there are some good clips from the whole range of George Cole's career, from COTTAGE TO LET, HENRY V, ST TRINIANS, MINDER, A LIFE OF BLISS (tv) etc

I saw him on stage in the 80s as Major General Stanley in the G&S Pirates of Penzance. Not at all his usual sort of thing and he was absolutely brilliant.

It did transfer briefly to television in the 50s.
