I also watched that. I was under the impression the PW is bald headed.
I heard a story that when PW went to Australia to publicise 'Jason King' a very excited female fan rushed forward to grab him by the hair and dislodged his wig.

I was discussing this issue with someone on YouTube who said that they'd worked with him on an episode. They said that his hair in the series was all his own. Thirty years later, if he shaves his head or is now going bald doesn't really prove the point. The story of the fan grabbing a wig sounds like pub talk.

I must agree with all the comments on Peter Wyngarde's performances, especially in Sherlock Homes both the Jeremy Brett and Douglas Wimer versions. Night of the Eagle what a great film! Another of my favourite Wyngarde appearances is his powerful role in The Innocents.

The story is - allegedly - that PW in his 'Jason King' days had to wash his hair so much to kept in clean and manageable, that the vast amounts of shampoo he used caused his hair to thin and eventually fall out.

One of his early films which I remember was Night of the eagle which I believe has been released on DVD.
