Default US actors in Britain

Whenever a film is shown and is supposedly set in the USA,if Ed Bishop turns up (The Lords of Discipline, directed by Teeside lad Franc Roddam)it proves straight away it was filmed over here. There was also another American actor,David Healey (?),also based over here, who often "Americanised" scenes to save costs of filming in the USA.
I believe David Healey is no longer with us,but I think Ed Bishop is still alive.

You can add Bob Sherman, Alan Gifford, Lionel Murton, Bruce Boa, Paul Maxwell, Shane Rimmer, Peter Dyneley and Lee Patterson to your list even though most of them are Canadian. If you want the ultimate in "say its anywhere in the world but film it in England" Get "THE SAINT", "DANGER MAN" or any ITC series out on DVD and have a field day.

How about 'Mac' Macdonald, a face that was usually behind a 'heavy', Lee Paterson, William Sylvester?

Good morning boys.

William Sylvester was Canadian, chaps as was another regular, Robertt Beatty. Wasn't there Robert Ayres as well ? Wasn't Peter Dyneley British, but just good at accents ?

And don't forget the other guy who used to play loads of heavies - John Crawford secret . Also Bill Nagy and Cec Linder (more Canucks.)

Ron Randell....

And who could forget COVER GIRL KILLER's the late, great Spencer Teakle ?

Donald Sutherland was a Canuck but appeared in some good British films like Don't Look Now, Eye of the Needle, The Eagle has Landed and Dr. Terror House of Horrors.

Only on her mother's side. Joyce had a very well connected, but not all that wealthy, upbringing.

Patrick McGoohan was born in New York but his parents moved to Ireland when he was very young. I'm not sure of his actual nationality.

Patrick McGoohan was born in New York from Irish parents. They made their way to Sheffield where he grew up and got into stage. He is now semi-retired in California.

McGoohan resides in Santa Monica, I think, on a US passport by the 'accident' of his birth, despite having had his formative years in Ireland and the UK.

I stand corrected on Joyce Grenfell ; for some reason I had picked up that she was 100% USA blush

'Weird' to think that McGoohan is enjoying a ripe old age whilst PRISONER cohort Alexis Kanner died so young, so suddenly, late last year

I doubt if McGoohan will do much more though ; I've not seen it, but was told he didn't sound too well on Disney's TREASURE PLANET...

I would love to see Drake at 75 still putting away the baddies!

Long health to McGoohan!

You don't say! :)
John Ford's favourite Irishman Victor Mcleglan was born in Royal Tunbridge Wells in Kent thumbs_u .
Are there many more "Americans" actually born in Britain? Was Clint Eastwood actually born in Hartlepool?
