Default Actors etc. with place names

Just for fun...but have you ever wondered how many actors/directors etc. have British places in their names,I was just daydreaming(I do a lot of that!) the other day and I thought of four off the top of me head: Michael YORK, George FORMBY, David ESSEX and the great Jack CARDIFF, any others you can think of?(indulge me!) Ta..... :)

Looking up the names of people who worked with Powell & Pressburger (plus a few others), I find:

BARRY Livesey (or anyone else called Barry)
John ENGLAND
Grant SUTHERLAND (not a town but Argyll & Sutherland is a region)
Jill IRELAND (Well Northern Ireland is part of Britain)
Lord SNOWDON (he's appeared in documentaries)
Paul MERTON (he took the name after the London borough where he grew up, his real name is Paul Martin)

Of course it does chaps ! Well spotted - I was still only half awake.... duh

And (in the same area) don't you think Carshalton Beeches would be a marvellous name for a Henry Irving type Ac-Tor ?

I was driving through Peckham and sitting in a queue of traffic (as you tend to around there) I was amused to see that there's a Lyndhurst Way off Peckham Road to the South. But I think it's been there longer than Only Fools and Horses has been running.

Brilliant!! You guys are great, that's what I love about this forum - everyone's interest in all things Britmovie and such a mass of knowledge. Oh! and Freddy, you're right I did miss that one... Judy Cornwell is often credited as Judy Cornwall duh . Anywayyyyyy here's another: Eileen DERBYSHIRE, she who plays Emily Bishop in Corrie(it's only fair to include T.V.!) Keep 'em coming! There's just got to be more!

If you want to see someting REALLY un-nerving...go to the cemetary next along from Fosset Square in the East End. Fosset Square is the square that they based the design of ALBERT SQUARE on Eastenders (so that it would be true to life).....and, as they wanted REAL East End names for the characters ( for authenticity ) they used the names of the dead locals. You can walk amongst "Arthur Fowler" ..."Pete Beale"...."Ian Beale"..."Dennis Watts"...."Dorothy Cotton"..etc etc....very odd..and quite spooky if you're as drunk as I was when I was taken there..

Threep.
