Default Bette Davis 1908 - 1989


Bette Davis was born 100 years ago today. She had several links to Britain and British films. Her breakthrough performance was her portrayal of Mildred in Somerset Maugham's Of Human Bondage (1934), and she twice played Elizabeth I: The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex (1939) and The Virgin Queen (1955).
Her British films include: Another Man's Poison (1951), The Nanny (1965), The Anniversary (1968) and Connecting Doors (1969).

Today was also the birthday of three other greats... Gregory Peck, Spencer Tracy and Melvyn Douglas.
