Default Hazel Court RIP

Scream queen Hazel Court dies, aged 82

Quote:
Horror actress Hazel Court, highly popular for her appearances in Roger Corman's Poe cycle, has died at the age of 82...

Horror film star Hazel Court passed away today aged 82, according to her acquaintance Ron Adams, who has just announced her death at his Monster Bash site.

Court was known for voluptuous roles as often-scheming temptresses in such films as Roger Corman's Masque Of The Red Death, The Raven and Premature Burial, all components in Corman's enduringly popular technicolor 'Poe cycle' of the early 1960s.
No details are known regarding the cause of death at this time.

Court, who made her last screen appearance in 1981 in an uncredited role in Omen threequel The Final Conflict, published her autobiography entitled Hazel Court - Horror Queen: An Autobiography in October of last year.

Yes indeed, another of the players from my favourite period in British films has left us. She was always a very classy lady, in fact she appeared in a US/UK tv series called Dick and the Duchess(as the Duchess!). She also had a very distinctive and sexy voice. A sad loss.

Start every day with a smile and get it over with.

I know Hazel Court not at all from her horror films but from her apparently more modest performances in crime-stained titles such as Forbidden, Ghost Ship, Hour of Decision, Model for Murder, Narrowing Circle, The Scarlet Web, The Shakedown, Holiday Camp, etc.

I'm saddened to hear of her passing. I liked her very much.

A lovely lady, I enjoyed her many film and TV performances. Her role as Juliana in The Masque of The Red Death from 1964 is superb, made in color, the camera showed her true beauty in that film. For me, one of the best films she made.

So many other film performances like the two Hammer films she made, The Curse of Frankenstein from 1957 and The Man Who Could Cheat Death from 1959. A delight in Holiday Camp from 1947 and the countless b-films she made in the 1950's i.e Counterspy, Hour of Decision, The Narrowing Circle, Behind The Headlines, Ghost Ship, The Shakedown etc

Default Great Loss - RIP

A great loss - though the announcement that Marc quotes is wrong about her Biography however...

Having just finished the design work on it, it is currently at the printers... unfortunately Hazel never got to see the finished product though she did see PDF proofs...

She was planning on doing auto sessions to promote it and was looking forward to coming to the UK to do so.

Hopefully the book is a fitting tribute.

The biography is available end of April from Tomahawk Press

This is really sad. Bruce at Tomahawk had told me a lot about her. She sounded like an amazing woman.

Hazel Court's death was sudden - she died in hospital in Tahoe City, California. Her autobiography will be available in about a weeks time from Welcome to Tomahawk Press. She has seen the proofs of her book, but unfortunately never had a copy of the book in her hands. She referred to her book as the most important achievement of her life - and it IS a brilliant book with loads of gret photos. She was a wonderful person and dear friend and will be irreplaceable in my life.

What sad news!

She shone in so many films, both B/W and colour, and was a fine actress, a great scream queen and very sexy lady.

Remember those glamorous dresses she wore in Man Who Could Cheat Death, Frankenstein etc..?

RIP, Hazel.
