Very sad news. I'm glad I was able to attend a live show a couple of weeks ago when Humph and the others were on top form. He will be much missed.

Nothing to add to all the many postings except to add my agreement with them all.

Some of Humph's finer moments

Apropos of nothing, am I the only person who was amazed to discover Lionel Blair is actually married with a bunch of kids?

Probably .... Bob Monkhouse used to tell some cracking stories about his escapades with LB .... Russell Brand eat your heart out!

"Lionel and wife Susan, celebrated their Ruby wedding anniversary in March 2007. They have three children and one grandchild."

Another national treasure is lost to us. Humph's passing will leave one heck of a gap - there was no-one like him. An amazing and talented may, may he rest in peace.

Respect.

In the words of Chairman Humph

"As we journey through life, discarding baggage along the way, we should keep an iron grip, to the very end, on the capacity for silliness.
It preserves the soul from dessication."

RIP

Aw! From the BBC7 newsletter

Quote:
Mornington Crescent is the name of an Underground station adjacent to the North London street of the same name. But to the millions of listeners who never missed I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue, it is, more importantly, the name of a game of inexplicable rules, frequently played by the team on this much loved Radio 4 "antidote to panel games".

So it warmed me to hear that, following the sad news of the death of the legendary Humphrey Lyttleton last Friday, flowers were being laid as a tribute to him at the entrance to this busy tube station, for all the passers-by to enjoy.

One of the bunches was apparently from "Mrs Trellis" and the attached note simply said "Dear Humph, Thank you."
