I thought I saw Clive Dunn playing the pipes in Madeleine (1950).

My only 2 small claims to fame in this respect are recognizing a tubby little schoolgirl as Francesca Annis in a crowd scene in Carry on Teacher and Liz Fraser in a tiny non speaking part in the Smallest Show on Earth. Both needed a lot of investigation to prove I was right but I eventually found the proof.

Doctor in Love is a good example of a film that was very mean in crediting the cast properly. The flic is alive with well known faces who were "uncredited" and although I and others have filled in some of the blanks there are still, I believe, some missing.

My original query, which the good Steve (of IMDB fame) and others have now answered, related to seeing a small but effective performance from an uncredited member of the cast of an episode of The Professionals. You instinctively wonder "who was she" to catch her in other shows but if she ain't given a name.....

Pity.

One of the largest uncredited parts I know is Kenneth Branagh in the under-rated Swing Kids (seriously - it was very good) which supposedly was so as not to take publicity away from the young stars, back in the day when Robert Sean Leonard and Christian Bale couldn't carry a film on their own.

If you mean the 1972 version that Ken Russell directed, it's quite possible. Ken has a cameo himself as a passenger getting off the train. Or it could be an "Elvis sighting" (see above)

I ask about the version because although the remake didn't appear until 2002 and Olly died in 1999, it is possible for people to appear in films after they died. It can take a few years between a part being filmed and the film finally being released

What about those entries in IMDB which mixes up two separate people.

I've seen one where the person supposedly in both British and American films in the same years and no I don't mean well known actors who travelled.

I mean Ken's version. I'm fairly sure it is Mr Reed but I'd have to see it again to make sure.

He did make uncredited appearances in Russell's Mahler (as a station guard blowing a whistle) and Lisztomania (as a servant) both of which have been credited (in print as well as IMDB). If it is him I'm just surprised it's never surfaced anywhere...

It can happen. But where they are different people they should be separated out in the IMDb. You can do it if you spot any.

See the IMDb help pages

I remember seeing Graham Moffatt as the fainting man in the film 80,000 suspects and with no film credit, thinking about after all the Will Hay films he'd been in previously.

The IMDb lists him in it as "Fat Man (uncredited)"

I believe Graham owned or was landlord of a oub featured in the film.

John Abineri (or someone who is his double) pops up for a few seconds in the 1964 German Edgar Wallace Krimi Der Hexer. He plays a newspaper vendor in one of the scenes shot in London.
I posted a message ages back on the imdb, asking if anyone one else had spotted him, but its a bit like putting a message in a bottle and hoping for the best.

John Steiner was famously uncredited as the TV announcer in Donen's Bedazzled. According to Edge of Midnight (John Schlesingers bio) he also had a walk on in Darling, but i have yet to spot him. (apart from his photo on the mantelpiece in Bogarde and Christie's flat)

IIrc David Warner was uncredited in Straw Dogs for "insurance reasons"

I hear the Union Jack still remains.I see Namijira in custody
and I see Truganini's in chains.

Schlesinger himself did a few cameo appearances in other people's films. He was one of the British prisoners on the Graf Spee in The Battle of the River Plate and he was one of the "Gentleman" in the chorus in Powell & Pressburger's Oh... Rosalinda!!

He also appeared as an Officer in a dream in Billy Liar. He was uncredited in that one whereas at least he was credited in the two Powell & Pressburger films

I've had The Battle of the River Plate lying in my "to be watched" pile for a couple of months. I think i may get round to it this week, and keep an eye out for him.

Oh... Rosalinda is one i am sadly not familiar with. Has it been ever been out on vid or DVD anywhere?
