Oh... Rosalinda is one i am sadly not familiar with. Has it been ever been out on vid or DVD anywhere?
Alas no, or not yet. It's on the list of Powell & Pressburger films that Criterion might put on DVD - sometime

Oh Rosalinda! is available for viewing at the BFI Mediatheque. Not quite like seeing it on the big screen but better than not seeing it at all.

And as you know, there's nothing quite like seeing that one on the big screen

Mike Reid in Looking Glass War, he played a guard for a few brief seconds.

It's rather odd that Lord Dickie isn't actually credited in In Which We Serve - it's quite a large part and he was just starting out so you'd think a credit would have helped him. Anyone know the reason?

The IMDb Trivia page for the film says:
This was Richard Attenborough's first screen role (he had been recommended for his small but important part by director turned agent Albert Parker). He is uncredited purely because of an oversight.

It does often depend on the deal that the agent strikes with the producer. Parker was American and had mainly worked on American films. Maybe he didn't know that things were done differently here

The passage below is taken from Sir Richard's book 'Entirely Up To You, Darling.

I sat between them, my mama gently squeezing my hand whenever I made a fleeting appearance. As the picture came to an end, we all sat forward, waiting for the magic moment when my name would come up on the final cast list. Every single one of the film's participants was credited, including Johnny Mills' six-month-old daughter, Juliet, making her debut as 'Freda's baby'. But, as the names scrolled past, there was no Richard Attenborough.

It was a mistake of course. Nonetheless, as the lights came up on the drum roll which preceded the national anthem, my mother saw my face and, while the whole audience stood to attention, found it necessary to squeeze my hand very hard indeed. Then, as the three of us left the cinema, a young woman accosted me. For the first time ever, someone was asking for my autograph.

Regards

FReddy

WHAT IS THIS??? Have you forgotten the most famous uncredited actor/actress of all?

Miss Susan Broderick ... as the Antique Shop Owner in Blow Up

Interesting - Lord Dickie must have been well-miffed. Similarly in Dancing With Crime (with Lord Dickie and Lady Sheila), Diana Dors gets several scenes and isn't credited (though in Man Bait she's gets a special 'Introducing Diana Dors' credit even though she'd made at least 15 films by then, some of them quite major roles)

There were lots of uncredited appearances in British films and in films from other countries, up to the 1960s or 70s. It was only about then that they started to credit everyone involved, even in the tiniest way and you started to get those huge long credit lists that seem to go on forever.

The further back you go, the worst it seems to be. In many films from the 1940s it was quite common just to list the leading players and the leading crew members from each department (camera, editor, design etc.) and not all the minions that worked with those department heads.

Though perhaps it's best if the identity of Marius Goring's make-up artist in A Matter of Life and Death remains a mystery

For those who missed them at the Fahrenheit 451 thread, here are Donald Pickering and Noel Davis
in that film, which, along with Blow Up and Room at the Top, must have more Uncredited Actors than
any film I've seen:

I think with 451 they could only name so many as the credits are spoken before the start of the film and keeps within the context of the forbidden written word.
