Default Screen Tests

The mention of screen tests on one of the Bond threads led me to these ....

YouTube - Joan Collins Screen Test for Cleopatra

YouTube - Vivien Leigh - Rebecca Screen test

YouTube - Audrey Hepburn's screen test

On one of the AVENGERS dvds, there's a short sequence of Felicity Kendal trying out for the role of Steed's next sidekick. It might have been for the Tara King season, but I can't be sure. It involved running round in front of a white cyclorama, flinging cushions at an imaginary assailant and going into 'ready to pounce'-type judo poses...

MArlon Brando - Rebel without a cause

The four-disc Gone with the Wind dvd has quite a lot of screen test material, notably of Paulette Goddard and Jean Arthur, IIRC.

The Brando one is on the Streetcar.. dvd and youtube .... there's dozens of US ones on there inc Jimmy/Sal/Nat for RWAC and Paul Newman for East of Eden .... he lost out to Richard Davalos, who had a bit part in Cool Hand Luke.

Patrick McGoohan once told the story that he first got noticed by Rank producers when he stepped in as a substitute for Dirk Bogarde, who wasn't available for some reason. It was all to do a screen test for some unamed female starlet or other, whose name seems to have been lost to history. Assuming it was around 1955/56, what was Dirk up to at the time......?........

I've never seen the story corroborated anywhere else but I've found McGoohan has proved pretty reliable in his recall over the years.
