Is it just me that thinks character actor James Whitmore bears a resemblance to Spencer Tracey.

I am sure I looked him up on Wiklopedia, but I cannot remember if he is dead or alive.

His cv must be pretty prodigious, he always turned up in things like Ironside, saw him recently in Tora Tora, Tora on dvd, one of a cast of thousands in a bit part.

James Whitmore is a fine actor,whose few moments in the Shawshank Redemption outclassed many who were the dominant lead of any other film.

I'm also a big fan of James Whitmore! I believe he was known as the Spencer Tracey of the small screen at one point because of his resemblance to Spencer Tracey. I adored him in 'Kiss Me Kate'. He's one of those great actors who can play both sinister and comedy characters equally well.
