Seems to be a fair few Canadian Actors in the Movie 'Never take sweets from a stranger', (set in smalltown Canada but made in England) Bill Nigy I recognised from appearances in Coronation Street, and Helen Horton as a gossipy woman in this movie, I recognised her from sketches in the Benny Hill show where she invariably played an American tourist with a Husband called 'Harry'........

Alan Gifford was another US actor who filmed for many years in the UK appearing in to name a few The Flying Scot from 1957 with Lee Patterson & Kay Callard, Timelock from 1957 with Robert Beatty and Lee Patterson and later was in Crossroads where he played Lloyd Munro.

I watched The Flying Scot recently and AG gave a very good performance.

I suppose that explains why he is putting on good American accents.

According to IMDB he was born in Leeds but spent a few years in Canada as a child. Presumably he picked up the accent, at least temporarily though

Further back, I'd say that Raymond Massey was the most famous Canadian of them all.

Was Alan Gifford ever young? I know I was young when I saw him in Crossroads, but he seemed absolutely ancient. He seemed to turn up in a lot of tiny parts in seventies movies, often with little or no dialogue.

But he hardly ever played a Canadian, on stage or screen.
The only one I know of was when he played Andy Brock in 49th Parallel
And he did eventually become an American citizen
