I'm quite sure I would have instinctively grabbed the pint back and tipped it out over his head.

What an incredibly rude, ignorant person!

Probably why he was sitting alone in the pub, nasty people don't have many friends

As for Russ Abbott, the implication being he's gone and forgotten now he's off the small screen, you will find he's carved a niche for himself as a very good actor. He's still appearing on stage and is to my knowledge still being asked for his signature...

He has just signed up for a role in Eastenders.

[quote=1stas;157710]Kenneth Williams - apparently used to say "f... off!" to anyone that asked for an autograph - even children!

I met Kenneth Williams in the mid 70's when I was a wee schoolboy, he signed autographs for me & some other kids & was extremely nice & funny. A pleasure to meet!

I have read a couple of books on Danny Kaye and it seems he was quite different at times to the public. I often wonder how many of the stars who seem to be great pals on interviews and such really hate each other.

When quite small my parents worked the old Variety circuits in the 1950s and I seem to remember that the old codger stage door keeper would collect autograph books at his stage door have them signed by whoever was requested to sign them and deliver them back to the persons stood outside.

You know I agree that sometimes it is not always appropiate to approach a star at certain times.

However what do you make of a star being rude and horrible at a signing session they are doing. I am refering to Kenny Baker who played R2-D2 from Stars Wars. I am talking from personal experience.

Apparently Arthur had quite a good little joke.
After he'd gone through his lines with the director, he would enquire," D'you want this in Cockney?".

Obviously every one has their good and not so good moments. I don't think it's fair to judge an enetertainer on a one off encounter "in most circumstances". I have had good, bad and ugly encounters with celebrities, but perhaps much of it was at the wrong time. My point I guess, is that we shouldn't rush to judgement on people whose profile is so much more public than ours.

They might not want to do the signing session but they might be contractually obliged to do it. But the contract probably doesn't say that they have to be friendly while they do it. Just that they have to do it

Anyone can have a bad day, and we can't choose when we have them
