Default Ian Carmichael

I was wondering what Ian Carmichael is doing since being an American I found his Peter Wimsey mysteries really well done. I also bought his autobiography from a UK bookseller using ABE but would love more information on this gentleman.
Thanks to all of you that tell such interesting items in these forums.

Yes. And he turned up on a BBC4 documentary on Frankie Howerd, somewhat ruefully admitting that he'd turned down Frankie for ENSA (or something similar). So he's still with us and active but presumably mostly taking it easy. And deservedly so.

He lives not far from me in North Yorks and is semi-retired. The Royal was a local job for him.

He did a platform at the BFI and the transcript is well worth a read -

Thats the joke that killed the Music Hall !
