Default Great actors and actresses in bad films

I like the actor Alan Rickman and think he is a great actor, however I was unfortunate enough to see a film of his called Blow Dry, which can only be described as pants.

Considering it was made after he became successful, it makes you wonder why he participated in it.

I am sure some of you all have the same experiences with some of your fav actors and actresses.

That is undoubtedly true. Part of the reason may be that, because it stars a favourite, one builds a film up prior to seeing it.

All the best

If that's the one about the hairdressing competition, I thought it was pretty funny though not as good as the identical Craig Ferguson film that came out at the same time.

One actor's name stands head and shoulders above all others when the subject of Good Actors in Pants Movies comes up.....Sir Michael Caine!

But I think every actor alive has one or two things in the vault which one must not bring up when invited over for tea.

Sir, I direct you to the IMDB link for Michael Caine.

Well, it's hard to argue with that.

Although, I still think Sir Michael has the edge with the sheer crapitudedness of Blame it on Rio and Jaws 4 alone.

Now that you mention Jaws 4 I may have to agree .... that film is even worse than the Italian rip-off versions!

Jaws 4 was never likely to be a great film but Blame it in Rio did have potential with its source material and Stanley Donen directing.

Real Caine stinkers IMHO are

The Jigsaw Man
The Holcroft Covenant
Peeper
Shadow Run

Thats the joke that killed the Music Hall !

Olivier;

Inchon
The Betsy
A Little Romance

IMHO his acting in these films was pants too.

And what's all this about me having me leg off?

I've alway thought Olivier more of a pants actor who got the occasional good film.

First off, I guess I've lived in New York for too long, what does "pants" mean and what are its origins ? As I'm sure you all know it only means trosers in The US. Second, Bats have to disagree on thee Missouri Breaks I really liked Brando in that, especially when he's with his horse.

I can remember seeing Larry's version of Othello and sitting there with my eyebrows around the rafters. He was stiffer than a plank of ironbark and I kept expecting him to leave sooty handprints all over Desdimona.

I won't even mention Boys From Brazil.
