Default Cyd Charisse passes away

I am sorry to hear from a friend, that my favourite dancer and actress, the lovely CYD CHARISSE has died yesterday, Tuesday 17th June.. I'm told she had a heart attack. She was 86.
As a young man, I thought she was such a graceful, beauiful and sexy woman.
Bless you, and thank you Cyd.

Just heard the sad news myself. She was a wonderful dancer and (as Kelp says) a beautiful and sexy woman.

That's 'sexy' as from a different generation, unlike the 'in your face' raunchiness of today. Cyd positively smouldered...

May she rest in peace.

Respect.

A great dancer, a great beauty and a woman of dignity and class.

She was in the two finest musicals ever made: Singin' in the Rain and The Band Wagon

I saw her on stage in a musical in New York. It was in the early 90s. She took over the stage by just standing there.

Goodbye and thank you. A true lady.

LOS ANGELES, June 17 (UPI) -- Movie dancer Cyd Charisse died in California early Tuesday after an apparent heart attack at the age of 86, her representative said.

Born Tula Finklea, the Texas native appeared in the classic movie musicals "The Bandwagon," "Silk Stockings," "Singin' in the Rain" and "Brigadoon," People.com noted.

Charisse died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

She is survived by singer Tony Martin, her husband of 60 years, the entertainment news Web site said.

Sad news but what a legacy of effortless grace, real sensuality and elegance she leaves behind. Even if she had only ever performed the stunning sequence with Gene Kelly in the "Broadway Melody" sequence in "Singin' In The Rain" that would have been enough to cement her place in our hearts. That whole segment is still completely stunning and beautiful to watch.
Farewell Cyd.

Cyd was also in 'The Silencers' a Matt Helm film with Dean Martin in the sixties. A beautiful woman and a wonderful dancer. RIP, Cyd.
