Default Patsy Kensit

Not an actress I'm a huge fan of, but she does undeniably have a huge body of work having been acting since a very small child. I'm currently looking at her career as part of my dissertation project and I wondered if anyone on this forum might recall a tv drama she did in the mid-90's called 'At The Midnight Hour'. I've read the imdb entry, but would love to hear if anyone has any opinions on Ms Kensits performance in this particular show.
A long I guess, but thanks to anyone who can help.
Graham.

Can't help with that programme but don't overlook The Foundation (late 1970's) in which she played the leads young daughter.

I asked him to look at the body. That's who he is.

I think her performances as a youngster/teenager were first rate and much better than her adult output.

Fine looking girl/woman, though.

She was good in the first episode of Frost In May (long overdue a dvd release). I saw her in panto a couple of years ago and she was extremely bland. Not something you really want in a panto.

Thanks for the suggestion of The Foundation, Geronimo!

Yes, I'm inclined to agree with you, Cully. I'm of the opinion some of her teen performances were very strong, and superior to her current work. I think it might be something to do with her style of performance being better suited to certain mediums than others. I happen to feel her performance style is more inkeeping with the style of tv and film made 20-30 years, hence her work from that period seems stronger.

By chance I saw her in panto a few years back, and she gave an effortlessly fine performance in that show. On the back of that I couldn't help but wonder if she might not be better suited to a comedy-drama or traditional format sit-com rather than the soap/soapy dramas she's been working on in recent years.

Ah! It seems we differ on Ms Kensits panto efforts, Captain Waggett!

Perhaps she was having a bad night when you saw her? Or maybe a good night when I went...?

If we're talking about Aladdin in Richmond you could well be right about everyone having an off-night. Dame Biggins seemed to be on auto-pilot (which was most disappointing as obviously he was my main motivation for going!)

Yes, that was the show. I think it was the boxing day evening or Dec 27th performance and the cast was firing on all cylinders. Dame Biggins and Simon Callow were creasing with laughter as they humorously fluffed and ad-libbed their way through innuendo-ladden scenes. It was a real treat to see two very professional actors from (what some may regard as) 'different ends of the acting spectrum' riffing off each other and bringing the house down. Mum's been a fan of Biggins ever since, and me cynical old Dad clearly has a soft spot for Ms Kensit now. Best panto I've seen since I saw Frankie Howerd down in Plymouth in the late 70's. Mind you, we did have a few sherberts before we went...

I did think Simon Callow was great so we agree on something!

Ah, Patsy Kensit! One of the great actresses of our time. Her vast talent can only be matched by Liz Hurley and that 3 week old stale loaf of bread I have in the back of my fridge.

I'm afraid I am one of those who would rather put a fork in her own eye than endure another 'artistic performance' of Ms Kensit.

I'm amazed that an "actress" of such minuscule ability is given regular employment?

Who said 'casting couch'? Tut tut, you know that this type of thing doesn't occur any longer.

She was very poor in Emmerdale, but compelling viewing nonetheless.
