Default Sean Connery v Diane Cilento.......

Has anybody read Diane's autobiography ?

I believe she now lives in Australia

Connery's fury at former wife's claim

Shaken that his former wife Diane Cilento should have dragged their son, Jason, into her increasingly acrimonious feud with him, Sir Sean Connery has told Mandrake that she is an “insane woman” who is prepared to “stoop to the level of the gutter” in her attempts to tarnish his reputation.

Connery's fury at former wife's claim - Telegraph

Mandrake by Tim Walker

“I haven’t seen the woman in 37 years and she knows nothing about me or my life now,” says Sir Sean who has been married for the past 33 years to his French wife Micheline.

“Diane can’t move on from the break up of our marriage and I have already had to contend with her accusations about me being violent towards her. Now the lies seem to be getting even more vicious, and, what is worse, she is dragging our son into it.

“I have just come off the phone to Jason and I know he will be making his own statement but I never told him I wasn’t going to leave him a penny in my will or that I said he only had the career he has as an actor and director because of his family name. He happens to have talent of his own.

I saw him in Scotland only last year and we speak constantly on the phone. As for being mean to him when he was a lad, I sent him to Millfield, which is Britain’s most expensive public school, and I sent him after that to Gordonstoun when it became clear to me that Millfield was rubbish.

Long before I divorced Diane, I actually set up a trust fund worth £85,000 for his education and the education of Diane’s daughter which of course would be worth a lot more today. I did everything any father could reasonably be expected to do.

“It seems to me a shame that whatever garbage Diane comes out with about me is reported as the gospel truth, but of course a lot of people have their own agenda about me because of my support for the SNP.”

Miss Cilento, 74, gave an insight into her feelings for Sir Sean, 77, when she said in an interview: “I do feel there’s unfinished business between us. I loved the old Sean, I still do.

Sometimes when I see him today on some talk show, I catch a fleeting glimpse of my old love in the turn of his head or a well-remembered phrase, and it still makes my heart turn over.”

Play.com (UK) : Various - Polygirls : CD - Free Delivery

Shame there's no release date confirmed for it!

There's always two sides to the story. I know from experience that ex-spouses can be enormously bitter and jealous years after the event. Diane Cilento has seen Sean Connery remarry and experience newfound success and happiness. If she was happy herself, she wouldn't surely need to stick the knife in by publishing this book???

Sir Sean's own autobiography, Being A Scot, is to be published very soon after a particularly turbulent and unhappy creative process which has seen three ghost or co-writers depart and the final one, Murray Grigor, apparently far from happy, too. I was up for this at one time, and am glad to have missed a near-certain nervous breakdown. Apparently, it's a series of thoughts and random jottings on Scottish culture, not the sort of no-holds-barred, couldn't-give-a-haggis memoir that the mighty Connery could/might have written.

Well, Ms Cilento does indeed live in Australia, not far from where I am. She's not very active in the acting community here, and, from what I understand, spends most of her time on her property up north. Can't imagine why she keeps having a dig at Sir Sean. She comes from a very rich, very successful local family so she can't envy his money and success. Mind you, if I'd probably be a bit sour if I was her - it wouldn't be easy losing a dish like that.

As for Sir Sean, I have solid inside information that he is very charming and agreeable. Although, he doesn't suffer fools gladly.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Mr.Connery went back to his hotel and slapped his wife while he was making "The Hill". If this is true, it could be the best example yet why you shouldn't take your wife to work if you're an actor. No room for competing egos.

Regards,
HG

A chap I know worked on Entrapment and said exactly the same thing about Mr Connery.

I wish I had claws.

If you go on "you tube" and type in "Sean Connery slapping women" you can see Connery interviewed by Barbara Walters in the late 80s affirming his earlier comments in a 1960s press interview regarding slapping women. He obviously regrets those comments as they have come back to haunt him on a regular basis. As a Bond fan and admirer of Connery in many other respects I find the views Connery expresses on camera during the Walters interview disturbing and dissapointing, he is basically saying there are situations where it could be justified to give an argumentative woman a slap, and he is not talking about the character of Bond.

There's no justification in giving a Woman a 'slap', whatever the provocation, I know I couldn't live with myself........it's best to just walk away or accept defeat in confrontations that may turn ugly

You mean Diamonds Are Forever.

Not as good as the one Lazenby gives Diana Rigg in OHMSS, or even Rog's on Maud Adams in MWTGG. Those guys looked mean while they were doing it ... Sean looked pleased with himself.

I wish I had claws.
