Didn't Mike Moran first come into our lives as the writer of the Magpie childrens' ITV programme theme in the 70's?

The dance was I think created by Pans People and you danced out the letters of MAGPIE.

Presenters were Tony Bastable, Mick Robertson and Susan Stranks who appeared in the film 39 Steps with Kenneth Moore. (in the railway carriage as a schoolgirl).
Latterly it was Jenny Hanley and other chaps who I've forgotten.

Susan Stranks was married to Robin Ray, son of Ted, music quiz maestro and co-founder of Classic FM. I saw Jenny H at a dinner a few years back, I think she runs a pub now. The others I've not heard of since.

Ah but a young Jennifer did do something like that when she blasted to death the lard bucket of a yokel boyfriend in "The Eagle Has Landed"! Mind you it was set in Norfolk and coming from that neck of the woods myself I know the age old motto in most villages is "If in doubt, get the 12 bore out!"
But she did it for love so that's alright.

And it was in Norfolk and justified because Jenny's victim was technically a burglar, caught in the act of going through Donald Sutherland's things. Hewas rightly suspicious and didn't believe Sutherland was just an Irish marsh warden (and with that attempt at an Irish accent, not many of the audience did either)! I think I'll put that in as a topic, Worst Accents!

Off tomorrow to see Jenny Agutter, Sylvia Syms and Simon James in Love, Lust (... And We All Make Mistakes) at Llangollen so it seemed an appropriate time to post another photo of innocent beauty:

Frank Skinner did a joke about Jenny Agutter and the film 'Walkabout'.

"All those wonderful shots of the bush."

On Sunday evening I had the great pleasure of attending Love, Lust (...And We All Make Mistakes) at Llangollen performed by Jenny Agutter, Sylvia Sims and Simon James. An excellent evening of poetry, prose and music.

It was a very intimate affair [no, not that intimate] as the hall capacity was only about 100 and I was less than 5m from the stage. Sylvia Sims was excellent - developing an instant rapport with the audience - and she, Jenny and Simon seemed to not only get on well together but to be really enjoying the performance.

Jenny? Well, she was just Jenny. I've met her before and watched her in rehearsal just before the performance, but on stage she looked even more drop dead gorgeous if that were possible. The dazzling smile I got at the end was a fantastic early birthday present.

As the chap behind me said to his companion "..and she still only looks 18."

Are you sure he meant 18 and not 81???
On 'New Tricks' earlier this year, she looked more 81 than 18.
I reckon she could sign up to Eastenders as Pauline Fowler's stand-in........

On a more constructive note, no she doesn't look 18 anymore but then neither do any of us. She is still a very attractive woman but more importantly, a very good actress! I don't think we see enough of her these days (anyone doing a remake of Walkabout? ) She's still high up on my list of "actresses I'd like to take high tea with", and another similar list as well!

I'd agree - and I suspect she might have been slightly insulted to be taken for an 18 year old. However, she could very easily pass for a 30-something. The low gasps of admiration when she walked on stage didn't just come from me and the other males in the audience! And, yes - a very fine actress. To me, the mark of a fine actor is one you can almost forget is acting and I'd put Jenny in that category.

No 1 on my list for "High Tea" as well - even though I should point out that Mrs Fell could have been taken for Felicity Kendal's younger sister [assuming she h ad one!] in their younger days.

Well Mrs samkydd was often mistaken for Boris Karloff when she was younger, and could have been his elder brother. Even now she earns an incredible amount of money knocking on people's doors at Halloween!

She does all those wood alcohol gravel throated voiceovers for the radio ads for films like Friday 13th Part 28 and The Hand That Rocks The Cradle Yet Again. "Just when you thought it was safe to put the garbage out, you forgot to check the calendar! Friday 13th Part 28: The Return of the Frightening Thing"

Jenny Agutter is a national treasure. To leap over from another thread, her role in Logan's Run definitely showed her to be one of the world's sexiest actressses.

Lucky man, Michael York.
