Hi Fell,
I don't know if you saw this piece by Germaine Greer in The Guardian this week....you have to get half way through to recognise the relevance to the thread.. Germaine Greer on Aboriginal culture | Features | Guardian Unlimited Film
Pass it on to La Jenny if you think she'd be interested.

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

In that case, I'll give you a serious answer.

I'm the sort of person who likes to see how things fit together and develop so I would find it very instructive to see a scene come to life as the actors grew into the parts and developed a rapport with one another.

With the right actors, it would be a very informative masterclass.

Fellw, yes, that's what I would expect - to see the construction efforts, as if "the journey can be as good as getting there".

As some of you are aware, Jenny is one of the patrons of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust - being a carrier herself.

She has very kindly agreed to publicly back a sponsored walk I am doing for the charity in late April-early May. This is to be a 200 mile walk from Bowness on Solway, along Hadrian's Wall to The Sage Gateshead and then down along 2-3 other trails to join the Pennine Way at Middleton in Teesdale. From there, I'll be following the Pennine Way down to Haworth - to arrive in time for this year's Railway Children Walk on Sunday, 6th May.

Training for it has been going very well. In the 17 week buildup to it, I'd intended doing at least 700 miles - at the present rate, that figure should be very comfortably exceeded.

I'll be putting up a justgiving.com page shortly and you're all welcome to contribute - Jenny will be delighted!

All the best

Thank you (always) for this. I won't be in England that time of year (our first 'miss' in a few years) so if some blond runs you down, I will have an alibi. I swear. It won't be me. Probably. Maybe. Possibly. My driving may be eratic but even I hardly wind up out-of-Texas merely on one wrong turn. Usually.

I have to admit I did have a connection with Cystic Fibrosis before I knew Jenny was involved.

A friend of mine's wife has CF and back in March 1996, just before going online at home, I went across to help out on a vintage car rally over the Lakeland Passes. Quite interesting having to tow a Morris 8 over the top of Hartknott and Wrynose!

Hi, Fell,

Good for you in setting up the whole thing, and cheers to Jenny for her constant generousity in always showing up at these events, not just showing up but speaking and mingling with the crowd and thoroughly committing to the event. No wonder she's loved.

A heads-up: rare showing of "Logan's Run" on TCM, 16 Feb in the evening, check local times.

All the best,

Barbara

Thanks - but it was easy as I've spent 30+ years wandering the fells of Northern England so nothing [well ok, one thing!] could be more enjoyable.

To be fair, I'm sure there are many other true stars who commit themselves in much the same way but she is special.

On TCM here on 3/3 - usually shown 4-5 times a year.

Seeing as it's Valentine's Day, what could be more appropriate than to offer her virtual roses - 65 of them:

Preview night of the revival of Equus at the Gielgud this evening.

This time I'd be transfixed by Hester Saloman rather than Jill Mason!

And I will most certainly give one if I can get to see it! Only 3-4 possible dates that we can make it so I've got to see if I can work out the logistics - it's a 500 mile round trip.

Having been told off for not visiting the theatre more, I must make the effort - though my response was "Get yourself on stage in the North East and I will!"

Preview night seemed to go very well - so I was told

Is "telling you off" all that's necessary? And if so, care to give lessons to my hubby? I have offered many times to tell him off as if that's all the motivation he'd need... somehow, though, I've gained an impression to the otherwise. Hmmm...
