Happy Birthday Jenny!
I'm having a home film festival in your honor.
Watched Amy on Tuesday - a wonderful film and role.
Logan's Run last night (children told to avert their eyes).
King of the Wind tonight.

A man of infinite excellent taste - welcome.

I've just watched The Snow Goose and will watch Irina Palm later.

Next week's movies are:

Walkabout
American Werewolf
Railway Children
Eagle Has landed
Man in the Iron Mask
Silas Marner
MI-5

I just discovered Jenny a few weeks ago when I chanced upon Logan's Run and fell in love.
I had previously only seen Logan's Run and American Werewolf some 25 years ago, which are the only Agutter movies available in stores over here.

P.S. Although in USA now, my first post-university job was in Hampshire, UK so I know the southern England and London area. I moved back to the USA the day after Jenny's wedding.

Same thing happened to me back in 1968 with her very first appearance in The Railway Children.

Amazon.com seems to have a fair selection at the moment.

You might like to visit Jenny's official website:

She is very much involved in it and has complete editorial control over what is on the site.

"Many Happy Returns" - I get it...
I made a pilgrimage to Portmerion long ago - but any more and we'd be off topic.

The one filming location I visited (1988) was the Ft. Worth Water Gardens so I could see the City entrance for Logan's Run.

Fellwanderer,

I found the official site early on. I understand you had a lot to do with. What was your role? Did you actually create/code it and continue to maintain it? I love the SFW Gallery, Jenny's Page and the clear, simple interface.

Nice to add would be links to interviews and articles (online Press clippings) so fans don't have to wade through the drek in a Google search.

Yes - I'm honoured to be Jenny's webmaster. It's a long story that I won't bore everyone with [again!] so I'll send you a PM tomorrow.

I was lucky enough to be in the right place, at the right time and had the nerve to ask her the right question [carpe diem!]. Couldn't believe it when a letter arrived a couple of weeks later to say I could do her site.

Thanks - doubly so as it made me look at the Gallery page again and I found a couple of images had gone walkabout after updating it earlier today.

Jenny was very heavily involved and approved absolutely everything that is on it. She took a very active role in the layout and design and some of the images you will not see anywhere else.

We'll be looking to add more next year - I've sent Jenny an excellent academic article on the importance of her voice in The Railway Children and I'm hoping we'll get permission to put it on.

All the best

I was really disappointed that I missed that. My mother in law was very ill [she died a couple of weeks later] and I didn't feel I could go.

Sorry I didn't get back to this point earlier.

Jenny never did and never would pose either nude or topless in photographs [publicity shots or otherwise] although she had no such problems if the performance demanded it. Any that you see are either screengrabs or have been doctored to make her appear nude.

I'm watching King of the Wind and note that it was filmed in Bath and nearby areas in 1989.
Was that what caused Jenny to be in Bath for the Arts Festival rather than L.A. and thus meet Johan Tham?

Fellwanderer,

Question on an old post 19-09-2006:

Which movie would that be, in your opinion?
Although I've never seen it, my guess would be "If China 9, Liberty 37".

Jenny seems in interviews to not be fond of her character in Logan's Run or the costuming and admittedly she did not play a strong, independent woman. But, I really like the movie Logan's Run and I loved her character and the aloof sophistication she showed while Inside (but unfortunately never smiled). Outside the City, I also loved her character's discovery and desire for the natural life before the Catastrophe. It was sweet and hopeful (and she started smiling). "Beloved husband,... beloved wife..."

What movies would Jenny rather forget due to either being exploitative or just plan bad?

I would guess that her character in "Amy" is closer to the her ideal character - independent, beautiful and completely focused on her career. Like her L.A. years.
