Default Odds and Ends from the Catalog

All these UK TV showings of Jenny's work and nothing in the USA.
Rub our noses in it will you.
At least we have the USA's Interlibrary loan program which has a real treasure trove of the common and rarer of Jenny's various film and TV appearances. I'm working my way though the catalog.

Even The Railway Children 1970 on DVD can be found. If you happend to be in LA the UCLA film archives has the Snow Goose on film.

However my search flagged these below as having an appearance by Jenny but I didn't find them listed on her site or IMDB. Perhaps someone can tell me if Jenny actually appears in these (not cut out before release).

Sorry about that - just as well I didn't list all her appearances over the next month!

Jenny is most definitely in the two Measure for Measure programmes as I managed to get hold of them before Christmas - the programmes concentrate on her developing interpretation of her role as Isabella.

I think I may have one or all of the three World in Art programmes. I certainly have one that sounds as if it might be part of the series - I'll hunt it out.

I'll ask her about the others when I next speak to her.

You may have noticed that I've added Alexander Graham Bell [BBC - 1965] to Jenny's list of television credits. I asked her about it last week and she confirmed she'd been in it and that it was her first television appearance in this country. Unfortunately, she couldn't remember the name of her character, just that it was the youngest sister. A bit of digging around and I've come up with the name Berta Hubbard as the likeliest name - I'll ask her about that, too.

I saw the Measure for Measure workshops. I was in the play a couple times (both times playing The Provost) and found the workshops fascinating. If only Jenny had been my Isabella instead of .....

I think I've solved this one myself!

Amazon.com has it linked to Mayflower: The Pilgrims' Adventure in which Jenny did star as Pruscilla Mullins. Quite way they are linked together is beyond me - apart from Anthony Hopkins being in both. The implication on Amazon is that one gets them bundled together but it doesn't make any sense. I suspect it is a mistake that has been replicated elsewhere.

Default Cooking with Spirits

Good detective work Fell!

Another one for you, not shown in her catalog, in Jenny's most dramatic role yet.
I went ahead and ordered it just for grins.

=====

Cooking with spirits
Robert Carrier; Jenny Agutter

1980
English Visual Material : Videorecording : Videocassette 1 videocassette (27 min.) : sd., col.
New York, N.Y. : Time-Life Video,
Demonstrates the preparation of veal steaks with brandy soufflé and discusses presentation and the choice of cognac to accompany the meal. Also features actress Jenny Agutter, who prepares quiche.

=====

Has Jenny ever done commercials?

Saw her in the Inspector Lynley mysteries a couple of weeks ago. Post-Spooks and looking more lovely and well-dressed.

Well, I certainly wouldn't disagree with that!

No-one has ever mentioned seeing her in any commercials and I'm sure it would have been mentioned here if she had.

I do know she has done voiceovers for charity adverts. Those seem to be often aired in the afternoon slots over here and I just happened to catch one when I was recording a programme for someone - recognised the voice instantly so I checked with her. By coincidence, the charity had been in touch with her that very day about doing some more.

Haven't had time to track down the art programme yet - I didn't realise quite how many dvds of her I have!

Hunting around, I find it is a different Arts programme that I have - an OU one on Cornish artists. As it was part of a series of three rather disparate Arts interests that is what must have confused me.

Not that I'm aware of - but what a vocal!

Jenny does claim not to be able to sing.

Interesting fact, for me, is that of all the groups in the world, Jenny agreed to provide the backing to the only group from my part of NW Durham that made it big. Also, at least 2 of PS attended the school my daughter used to go to for her orchestra practise.

Turned out to be the Disney version - although they did play 2-3 seconds of the pool scene.

If they want to show a masterpiece, show it at a suitable time without butchering it

Default The Snow Goose on YouTube

The Snow Goose is now on YouTube in 5 parts.
(not from me)
Poor quality from copied VHS tape. But watchable for those of us who have never seen it before.

Default The Wild Duck

I remember seeing this back at university in 1971 on a B/W television. Finally managed to get hold of it on dvd - and in colour!

Excellent performances from Jenny and Denholm Elliott but I could see why plays of such quality probably wouldn't go down too well with today's audience.

Very dark and brooding.

It is part of an Henrik Ibsen Collection of 6 dvds - 9 television plays and 8 radio plays from the BBC [1950s-1990s]. Available from amazon.com in R1.

It was worth it simply for The Wild Duck but the others look excellent and there seems to be something for almost everyone here.

Thoroughly recommended

If I remember correctly, David Suchet is an architect [and not too pleasant a character], Jenny is his wife. For some reason, they are held prisoner in their new house and ....

I'll try to find out if Jenny knows when it is due for release as it is not showing up at all yet.

Looks like they hired a marketing company to get some buzz for "Act of God" with a viral video. So one would hope that it would be released soon. Or they have yet to find a distributor. IMDB shows the filming date as May 2006 which seems like a long time to delay release.

Saw Jenny in "4:50 from Paddington" (2004) today. You never look your best on the death bed - if they do the makeup right.
