Default Monday, Monday

At last there has been a press release on Jenny's new ITV series:

Monday Monday - ITV Drama

Not actually heard of any of the cast apart from her!

GoogleImage them, you'll probably recognise Neil Stuke, Holly Aird and Fay Ripley...that's actually a very decent cast.

Is it?

Recognised Holly Baird [Waking the Dead] and Peter Wight [?] from googleimages but none of the others, I'm afraid - which is probably a reflection of how little I actually watch.

I was rather surprised to see the words ITV and comedy in the same sentence.

Default Irina Palm

Irina Palm has just been classified as a 15 with no cuts by the BBFC and is expected to open on 13 June.

Default Purge

YouTube appears to have made a sweep through and removed their full Walkabout and Snow Goose versions due to copyright violations. At least with Walkabout we have recourse to the fine DVD version for sale. The Snow Goose has flown away again out of sight.

Poor quality from copied VHS tape. But watchable for those of us who have never seen it before.

Default Star!

I viewed the movie Star! last night and the uncredited several minutes with a 13 year old Jenny Agutter playing the daughter of Gertrude Lawrences's (played by Julie Andrews). It included DVD commentary by Jenny for her scenes. It's a shame Jenny doesn't get credit in the film, DVD or IMDB for this role but the credits are sparse considering the numerous people in the film, so she's not alone. This was Jenny's first acting in a big budget movie and it must have done a lot to convince her to pursue acting as a career.

It was a great musical that unfortunately was released 10 years too late in 1968 when cultural tastes had changed dramatically. It flopped and has gotten lost in the dustbin of history. It is quite a show and a very enjoyable one at that even if it didn't include the favorite actress of this forum. The DVD is readily available on Amazon and Amazon UK.

Jenny gives a great, engaging performance that she showed how perfect a child actress she was to later show fully in The Railway Children. I think Jenny unintentionally steals the scene away from the great Julie Andrews with her more thoughful role juxtaposed to the frantic superficiality of Julie's Gertrude Lawrence. Jenny's scenes are jarringly different from the style of the rest of the movie. Its as if they cut in a plot from a Hayley Mills Disney movie in the midst of the spectacular of the musical in-progress.

Heck they even sing a rousing song about (a different) "Jenny" near the end of the movie. Much to love in this movie.

I clearly remember going to see this film in 1969 [just confirmed with Mrs Fell for the year]. At the time I thought it was Jenny having first seen her the previous year in the BBC serial of The Railway Children but she was uncredited. In those days, it was a bit difficult to come across information so it was many years before I was able to confirm it.

Actually, Jenny hadn't realised she was uncredited when I told her last year and it must be one of the most significant roles [ie speaking part and named daughter of the main character] that I can think of that is uncredited.

The IMDb lists her
Jenny Agutter ... Pamela Roper (uncredited)

Default Credit Due

I stand corrected. Its on the 2nd full credits page on IMDB with the list of uncredited performances in Star! I don't think I've ever seen such a lengthy list of uncredited cast. Jenny has several minutes of screen time and dialogue in 3 scenes but she's not in the original movie credits so you can't go back and redo that.
