The new version of "The Riddle of the Sands" finally arrived today - and well worth the wait. 4:3 letterbox and stereo. It looks to have been digitally remastered as the picture quality is far superior to the older commercial dvd I have.

Exactly the same shot in the old and new versions:

I know what my Christmas viewing will be now!

I recently acquired that China 9, Liberty 37/Gone With The West DVD and am very disappointed with it. Apart from its terrible quality it has about five minutes cut out of it.

It is 92 minutes (when played in PAL but its NTSC time is put at 98 minutes) and they have censored all of Jenny's nude scenes. Do not get me wrong, I am not pervert who just buys films for nude scenes but if Jenny's nudity adds to overall story then it is necessary for me to see it so I can appreciate her performance properly. It is quite happy to include one scene where cowboy gets shot in his face though. This cut is all shooters and no hooters.
