Some questions about this for Jenny or anyone who knows the background. Obviously the contract never came off as she didn't appear in a raft of MGM movies afterwards.
1 - Was there actually a multimovie contract with MGM offered to Jenny or was Daniel Melnick engaging in some Hollywood hype ala "Baby, I'm gonna make you a star."? 2 - If there was a contract offered - did MGM withdraw it later or did Jenny reject it? Why? 3 - Did People Magazine really talk to Jenny's mother or did they just make it up? "She's a marvelous actress, so good we can't always tell how she feels," her mum observes, adding perhaps wishfully, "sometimes I wonder if she wouldn't rather settle down with a nice husband." The rest of the article rings true when compared with later public comments from Jenny. Sounds like she had her head on straight at the age of 23. A sensible young lady. Quote:

Was the BBC Dear John any better?
The American (NBC) Dear John was a typical not too funny broadcast sitcom. I haven't watched this kind of lame network fare in many, many years. The writing has Jenny with mainly sarcastic comments for her lines. Out of her normal character roles. At least she looked good, as usual, and gets quite physically forthright in Part 2 (Fell, stop dreaming...). Quote:
