Legit, new DVDs (2 disks - Region 1) can be found on Amazon for US$5 + S&H.
A mostly watchable marathon of 281 minutes. Enough Jenny to be worth it.

Though I'm sure everyone on this forum has seen or has the movie, it can also be found in 11 parts on YouTube (such as it is). I was surprised to hear that its not available in Region 2.

Looks like its been removed from YouTube already.
Its just a few seconds of Kryton getting accidentally hit by a prop sliding door and Jenny seen and heard laughing in the background. Not much to see.

YouTube - Logan's Run (1976) Part 1
It's shown very regularly on both terrestrial and digital channels over here - next month and [a birthday treat Jenny must have organised for me] September. Certainly been a long time coming for an R2 release but it'll be worth it. I already have the R1 version but would prefer R2.

I bought the Beulah Land R1 set a few years ago - by god, she's cute [as always] especially with a twinkle in her eye and wearing that bonnet!

I'd been lucky enough to find a torrent of the full Red Dwarf Series VI Smegs Up - pity Jenny's part was so small both in that and the Psirens' episode itself.

All the best

It's strange that the BBC went to the trouble of casting Jenny Agutter for the part of Professor Mamet and yet she only has two lines in the episode.

I talked with China 9 Liberty 37 director Monte Hellman at an event recently. Very easy to talk to and he looks younger than his age.

It would be great if he could manage to pull off for China 9 Liberty 37 the wonderful Criterion box set he did for Two-Lane Blacktop (also starring his friend Warren Oates). He put in a lot of effort to finally overcome difficulties with Two-Lane Blacktop's copyright issues and get it released.

Two-Land Blacktop has new long interviews with Monte and with him interviewing the actors on the DVDs, 2 nice booklets with the script and news articles about the movie. A deluxe effort all around. Now if only a proper copy of China 9 Liberty 37 could be found and the same effort put into releasing it.

Not necessarily Jenny's top role (few lines, lots of screen time) but this was the peak of her youthful beauty. Warning for China 9: Some songs were harmed during the making of this film. But Jenny never claimed to be able to sing.

Default Sweet William

I was able to view Sweet William and later read the book recently.
Sweet William is possibly the best acting of her adult career. I can well see a reason why she likes this film in particular. A wonderful performance. The surprise twist at the end of the film is made (quite unecessarily) explicit in the book jacket. View film first and then read the book.

I'm afraid that Sam Waterston's risable Scottish accent makes it unwatchable for me.

Was he supposed to be Scottish? I haven't read the book but always assumed the character was American - that may have been brought about by the Melvyn Bragg interview which Jenny watches with the television set she has been sent.

Maybe I need to watch it again for clarification - although I'll not be able to keep my eyes off the leading lady so may have to watch it a couple of times to be sure

All the best

The book Sweet William has William from the west coast of Scotland.

I love the more subtle way Jenny does the surprise at the end rather then the way the book hammers it in to get the point across. Another reason why this is one of her best.

I watched Sam Waterston in Capricorn One last night. He didn't get to go to Mars but he did get Jenny a few years later in Sweet William. Surely that makes up for it. I see that Sam's father is from Leith, Scotland so he should have checked with dad first before doing the accent.

I wonder if the Six Million Dollar Man - Deadly Countdown (September, 1977) episodes (haven't seen them) inspired Capricorn One (June, 1978) or the other way round. Similar themes. Fell: Was there discussion in the Six Million Dollar Man about NASA budget cuts and the possible end of the space program as a plot driver?

Thanks I'll still take the time to watch it over the weekend to see how it was approached in the film.

To be honest, I was a little surprised she hadn't thought it earlier in the film - though that would have mucked up the ending somewhat

I've a feeling there was - will check that out after Sweet William.
