Of course, I saw the film first so that maybe why I found it to have more suspense - and I'll readily admit I was concerned with what might happen to Jenny's character.

The film of course has Jenny but the late 1960's locations were also kind of interesting in a dated way. Both film and book are worth searching out.
The film is certainly excellent - it should be compulsory watching for all wannabee soapsters to show them you don't have to yell and scream to show your emotional range! Oh - and that the English language can be used with style and grace.

The book was a better read than I'd expected and it certainly grew on me as I got into it.

Default The Invisibles

Regardless of an off-air recording, I'll still buy the commercial version of anything Jenny has been in.

The Invisibles arrived this morning and it was disappointing to see that rights issues meant that much of the power of the "rescue" scene in the final episode was lost.

Blockbuster gave the sound of the cavalry charge bugle an intensity which was completely missing with the track that was used. Quite how Anthony Head could say "you needed to be there" in response to it is beyond me.

The music that accompanied Jenny's red catsuit walk was completely unsuitable - although I was concentrating much more on the visual rather than audio at that moment!

Default WOW!

Mrs Fell and I enjoyed an excellent evening at the Georgian Theatre, Richmond to see Sam Butler & Co. and Lethe as part of the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Society for Theatre Research.

The high spot for me was Jenny looking and sounding absolutely sensational as an 18th century merchant's wife

Afterwards, Mrs Fell and I were able to spend a delightful hour with Jenny.

I decided to take the bull by the horns and give Jenny a gentle reminder about the Q&A session. She hadn't forgotten about it but it had been unfortunate that just after I'd asked her if she would do it, she was inundated with work.

Default Women

An interesting read is "Women" by Naim Attallah (Quartet Books - 1987) which contains interviews with over 100 women done in 1986. Jenny has 6 partial pages of interviews. Book available on Amazon.

In summary:

1 - The Early Influences
- parents allowing ballet and acting and didn't push education
- expectations to get married and settle down
- her mother's independence

2 - Advantages and Disadvantages
- didn't have to fight for opportunities because they occurred at such a young age
- had to fight to maintain work once prominent
- men's different view of women
- different expectations of men and women in household affairs
- lack of respect and use of women in girlie magazines
- against exhaltation of youth and for looking your age

3- Relationships
- argument with an chauvinist actor after Taming of the Shrew in L.A. - honesty
- testing in relationships is a good stimulus to keeping it alive
- needs a man who can take the role of the traditional wife in maintaining the household whilst she travels and works (hmmm... a hotelier would probably be a good match)

Default Byte Nite in aid of Action for Children

Jenny is a Vice President of Action for Children [formerly NCH]. This is the tenth year of the IT industry organising a sleepout in aid of Action for Children and once again Jenny is joining them.

She has joined them several times and is there not just for the dinner, entertainment and auction but also spends the whole night under the stars - and I can give a cast-iron guarantee she was there all night last year.

Just off to London where I should be meeting one of our members from the colonies. Then to introduce him to Jenny who is guest speaker at a society we are members of.

Hope it stayed warm and dry for her by Tower Bridge during the night!

What a grand day! The weather for the most part stayed much better than expected. I had a bit of a wander around some of the more interesting parts of London before making my way to Eltham for the AGM of the Edith Nesbit Society. Jenny and I are both members and this year she was guest speaker.

The hall was poorly signed - I managed to walk right passed it in one direction and about half an hour later Jenny did the same thing in the opposite direction. Luckily, I was outside talking to the caretaker when I spotted her go by a gap in the hedge.

Number2 had a stopover in London so I'd arranged to meet him there to introduce him to Jenny.

My reputation had obviously preceded me as two people I'd never seen before came up to me and said "You must be ******" - I think it was the white roses I was holding!

Jenny gave an interesting talk about her involvement in the various versions of The Railway Children and her specific interest in Nesbit herself. Quite clearly, she knew her subject. She then took questions from the audience.

During the tea interval she was busy with autographs and after the refreshments she stayed for the AGM itself and took an active part. Once that was over we had time for a chat and Number2 was able to get his photo taken with her and pick her brains on some stills we hadn't been able to identify.

Once the meeting was over, Number2 and I went back into Central London for a meal before I made my way back north and he repaired to his hotel for his flight today.

PS - forgot to say it stayed fine for Jenny sleeping out overnight and there is still time to sponsor her!

Oh, gawd, luvvies...you've got me thinking about Jenny Agutter yet again! She really is my favourite of all time: one of those rare, natural gals who never grows old and just looks better and better without even trying! And jammy Fellwanderer even has her phone number! I reckon that in twenty years' time we'll still be chunnering on about her in the forum!

Default London Visit

What luck. I made plans to stopover in London for a few days of sightseeing on my way eastward and then Fell informed me that Jenny would be at the Nesbit Society meeting and invited me to come along. It was a treat to meet the legendary #1 admirer of Jenny, Fell and have dinner with him. I saw the man standing about with white roses for Jenny and knew immediately who it was.

Jenny looked great and well below her age. She spoke to, signed autographs, and posed for photos for everyone attending. Don't know how she can manage to stay so chipper and give a speech so well after not getting any sleep at the sleep-out the night before.

I also got to see Spam-a-lot in the West End. Wonderful, funny show.

It was good to meet Number2.

Here is one of the photos he took of Jenny that he said I could post here. Hard to believe, but I think I was just about the only man there who didn't take any photos of her!

Gorgeous as always

Lots about it here.

Sounds interesting and there's a good cast assembled: Romola Garai, Bill Nighy, Julie Christie, David Tennant, Jeremy Northam, Christopher Lee and I've also seen Hugh Bonneville and Jenny Agutter associated with it.
By coincidence, I'd mentioned this film [not by name though] to DB7 just a few minutes before the posting came through.

I do know the part Jenny plays but am waiting confirmation as she is away until tomorrow. I should have further news then as well.
