Does anyone have any information or biographical details about the wonderful
comedy actress Esma Cannon , who played a huge variety of character parts in the fifties and sixties, and appeared in several Carry On films, and was particularly memorable as the table tennis playing pensioner in Carry On Cruising?
For example, was she married , and did she have a family and what were the circumstances of her death?

DEAR EJB,
I AM ALSO TRYING TOO FIND INFORMATION ON "ESMA CANNON". WASN'T SHE A LOVELY ACTRESS. I ONLY STARTED RESEARCHING HER THIS LAST WEEKEND AFTER FINALLY FINDING OUT WHAT HER STAGE AND FILM NAME WAS. ALL THAT I KNOW AT THE MOMENT IS THAT SHE WAS BORN IN 1892 OR 1896 IN SYDNEY AUSTRALIA AND DIED IN ENGLAND IN 1972. REGARDING FAMILY OR MARITAL STATUS I HAVE FOUND NOTHING OUT. BUT I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO DOING MORE RESEARCH OVER THE INTERNET. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR RESEARCH.

Well there are tributes to her on this site and on the British Pictures site. Not a whole load of information but they are a start.
