I remember enjoying this show. Phyllis Calvert was likeable and Penelope Keith played a "Bitch Called Wanda", if I recall correctly. However, I can't remember a single plot line or any of the other characters. There was a leading man, but who was it?

I watched Phyllis in 'The Magic Bow' last night. Very mediocre film.

Does anybody recall this ITV drama - which also included Penelope Keith - or know if the episodes still exist? Thank you in advance.

Six months later......but yes, the series does exist in its entirety. Have only vague recollections of seeing it when broadcast, though.

I like her very much but have almost nothing constructive to say on the subject beyond that..........

I have two very conflicting contributions re Jack Hedley....a close friend, filling in as a waitress at the time thought he was a really nice "gentleman"............a rather tense, unsuccessful actor friend said of knowing him in rep. "ah, you mean Jack BigHeadly"............

Who knows? Both of these people would probable be a very much too "precious" for me but I suppose that's why we love them and sign up for forums like this?

I remember her best in The Man In Grey with James Mason and Stewart Granger.

Unfortunately, I recall an interview with Stewart probably not too long before he died, where he said that Phyllis had the most terrible bad breath! She was still alive herself then, of course, so I hope she never got to hear about it!

That is fantastic news. Thank you so much! But will it ever be released? Anything's possible I suppose, but as Margaret Lockwood (Justice) and Stephanie Beacham (Marked Personal) are probably better known and more loved than Phyllis and haven't had their shows repeated/made available, I don't expect to see Kate anytime soon! Nice to know it exists though.

As Phyllis still has her fans, I shall try and upload some of the Kate-related articles I have from TVTimes issues from that period during my summer break, including at least one major interview that I've read.

Euryale, Phyllis Calvert said in the book 'Shepperton Babylon' that Stewart Granger's breath smelled of sardines!

Hopefully these series may get a release some time. I mean, there must still be tons of stuff left in TV archives, nevertheless that amount is finite, so maybe some of these long-running drama serials will eventually get their turn for an airing.

Remember Justice a little bit, but Marked Personal much better - dealt with issues that I think would still find some relevance today. When Stephanie's character left the series (I remember the reason why, but won't disclose it!), she was replaced by an American played by Sheila Scott-Wilkenson. Sheila appeared in several British productions inc. Special Branch before returning to the States.

Oh dear, looks like Phyllis was out to get a little revenge! I heard Stewart make his insult during a television interview, so it would have reached a fairly wide audience!

I know that Vivien Leigh said the same about Clark Gable - his dentures apparently caused him to suffer from halitosis!

It didn't when I smelt it!

Perhaps he ate some sardines deliberately to get back at her!

I wonder what they were thinking here....

Did you get close to Stewie?

I think it's quite well-known that he didn't get on with Phyllis!!
