Hi.
I have been a fan of Derren Nesbitt since seeing him in the movie The Eagle Has Landed when I was a boy. In the summer I was thrilled when my wife informed me that he was appearing at the Theatre Royal Glasgow in the stage production of (Wait Until Dark) . We managed to get tickets and had a wonderful evening, he was on top form. Derren has to be for me anyway one of the best baddies both on stage and screen, he just oozes menace like no other. I was in Blackpool recently and noted that he was appearing in (When a stranger calls) we didn’t go as I had seen it when it ran in Glasgow again at the Theatre Royal, Mr Nesbitt was not in it then. It’s great to see he is still active and entertaining. When one watches an actor of his calibre compared to what’s on offer today both on stage and in the movies, one wonders will those one dimensional superstars who are trying to pass themselves off as actors today last and be remembered and appreciated like him, I think somehow they wont? Great site I’m thoroughly enjoying it.. :) |

Excuse me for this mistake. I had just finished watching The Eagle has landed when I posted, not paying attention.
I should have put (Where Eagles Dare) ![]() Last edited by wellpip; 21-12-2007 at 08:31 PM. |

His great days seem to be over - its all regional tours nowadays cos the west end isn't interested now. He only got Wait Until Dark because Peter Bowles wouldn't do the post-London tour.

Excellent actor in all that he has done. Should have been a real Star. If he had been in his prime today, I am certain he would have been whisked off to Hollywood to play one of their English villains.
Best of the season to him!! Keep on going! |

Congratulations and best wishes Tiffany. But if your Dad can be persuaded to come up to Glasgow sometime in '08, we'd love to have him as guest of honour at a cult film convention I'm trying to organise....keep you posted.

Derren Nesbitt is scheduled to appear in Come On Jeeves at The Capital Theatre, Horsham, West Sussex along with Anita Harris, Victor Spinetti and others on Friday 14th and Sat 15th March (an Ian Dickens touring production). A far cry from Where Eagles Dare and Special Branch, but at least he's still working!

Heres an old photoplay article on Derren’s film The Amourous Milkman (sorry the text is a bit faint, but it is old)
