Hello folks,
In 1966 someone ask me if I wanted to work as an extra for two days on the tv series ''The Saint''
I did the two days and stayed in the biz for the next 32 YEARS and had the best job in the world.
If you read some of my credits I will try to answer any questions (remember the old grey cells) that I can on here..
Remember in life ''We pass this way but once''

Hi Aitch,
I've been reading the anecdotes on your web site. Really great stuff. You've been involved in some gems it has to be said. I must admit I am absolutely green with envy.

If you had to chose, which job really sticks out in your mind as the high point in your career and why.

Thanks for sharing with us. Hope to see you back on the box or big screen soon.

Cheers
A

P.S.
Which DIY chain store do you work in. We'll all pop in and say hello!!

P.P.S
You must know Art Mullard, what is he like?

I'll 'av 'arf

Hi Aenima,
Best job, too many to choose from.
I suppose Star Wars was the biggest earner for the producers (not me )
I worked on some of the classic shows of the time and got to meet some of my childhood heroes. In life we all have to work to get a living and I looked forward to going to work everyday.

Hello Aitch! Yes, very interesting website. And I too note with envy that you've been in lots of Dr Who's. I'm a major Dr Who fan and I'm really impressed. Do you have any particular memories of these that you wouldn't mind sharing with us? And you were in Shada too - last time I tried to get hold of a copy of that it was about £60!!

Hello Diane,
My best Who days were with my old mate Tom Baker who I knew long before he went into the show.
I'm not sure about Shada ,(did they ever finish it ?) I thought some of it went missing..

Hi Aitch -

What are your memories of working on the WHO story SEEDS OF DOOM, and dashing round Athelhampton House ? Particularly, do you have any memories of the late Tony Beckley ; a man about whom there seems to be very little information, even on the Internet !

You wrote to me YEARS ago, BTW - good to know you are keeping well !

Cheers,

Hello Smudge,
(I was just talking to a lady in the States)
Seeds of Doom was a lovely job to do with some studio work and a week on location When we saw the monsters we couldn't help but snigger be our mate was inside them
Tony was a very quiet shy man and he died a young man..
On the message boards on my web there is a Who page for people to look at.
This is on there....

Cheers Aitch !

Yes, Tony did indeed die young. It was twenty-five years ago, can you believe ? In his last film WHEN A STRANGER CALLS, he looked terribly gaunt and drawn. His relatives (step-nieces ?) have been looking on the web to get info on him, but to no avail.

The wife's a big fan of his, but she recognises yourself straight away too, after years of me shouting, "Oh there's Aitch again !" You're definitely a cult !

Champions was made at ABPC Studios Elstree and I was very new in the biz and got to work on a few of the episodes for just the odd day here and there.
I remember meeting Mike Pratt on one episode and he was soon to take the lead in Randall and Hopkirk.
The photo from R&H was taken for a laugh off set as I was going to be his stand/in and double for the next 26 episodes..We all got on well for the next year.

Oh I forgot about the Champions,,,,

Of course they all had super powers....

Aitch,

Mike was another one we were robbed of far too soon as well Aitch ; as you'll be aware. Did you see Ken Cope recently on AFTER THEY WERE FAMOUS ? It was a shocker about his misdiagnosed illness.

Ken & his wife are both very nice as I get the impression Mike P was also.
