You asked this question the other day and were advised to contact Equity, the actor's union. They will pass any message on to him or his agent/manager. I advise you again to do that. Personal addresses will not be given out by anyone.

I have had correspondance with Jack over the years.

He has signed photos for me and is a good guy - problem is, I don't know what happened to him of late.

He is/was also with the following:

Jack doesn't appear to be listed on their current website, but they would probably have contact details.

I was surprised to see Jack Hedley in the James Bond film For Your Eyes Only and noticed in the credits that HE dubbed the voice of the parrot (confirmed by IMDB)! He wasn't in this film for long (pre-credit sequence only?) and it reminds me of what I said in a recent post elsewhere, that many TV stars can dominate the small screen but often have very little to do in films. He fared much better as one of Bette Davis's sons in The Anniversary, however, where he was also the husband of Sheila Hancock. I'd love to see that again.

There's no doubt Jack was the star of Who Pays the Ferryman? (1977), where he played architect Alan Haldane, returning to Greece for the first time since WWII and discovering his late sweetheart left a child he knew nothing about.

This is from the first episode, Return To Yesterday, broadcast 7th November 1977. Being half-Greek this aroused a lot of interest in my family when it was shown and we've always remembered the fantastic theme tune (by Yannis Markopoulos ). Although my DVD of the series is a Dutch import and has Dutch text on the packaging and subtitles, the programme itself is in it's original BBC glory. Very well made with a dramatic climax!

Coincidentally, Jack's appearance in Special Branch is the next I'll be watching in the series so I'll contribute something from that soon.

Does anyone know the archive status of his series The World of Tim Frazer? I hope someone has good news.

Also terrific as the SBO in the great Colditz, of course.

You'd better qualify that GRAEME, or people will be writing in saying Eric Portman was the SBO. Jack was the SBO in the television series.

If you like, but IIRC the film is called The Colditz Story. They were both great, actually.

Bizarre to think that his apperances in NEW YORK RIPPER and ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES are only a few years apart from each other. I couldn't think of two more disparate productions!!

I wonder if he knew about the extreme violence in NYR when he signed up? I have to ask, as i interviewed Ian McCulloch the other day, and he said that most of what happened in ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS (also directed by the great Lucio Fulci) passed him by until he saw it many years later on video and subsequently DVD.

"I do not tinker."

I thought one of Jack Hedley's best tv performances was in my favourite Gideon's Way episodes 'The Alibi Man'. A really good actor and I would be very interested to hear how he is today.

As regards contacting Jack Hedley, or indeed any actor or actress, it is always best to write care-of their agent. Writing to Equity is a reasonable suggestion, but could prove to be a little circuitous. Perhaps the best reference source of artists and their agents in the Spotlight casting directory, limited access to which is available to non-professionals online. Here's the link:
Spotlight
Hope this helps.

If only the Internet was around in the previous decades. There are a few 'Hall Of Fame' galleries of selected actors and actresses, but if Spotlight had a website in the 1960s, we might have had the chance to see - and preserve - Jack's profiles throughout the years, along with many others of course. I'm sure they still exist but having seen the prices of those Spotlight books on eBay once, I don't suppose there's any likelihood of my owning them.

I really enjoyed Jack's performance in the Special Branch episode Threat a few days ago, on DVD, and like this capture the best. It was difficult to do though because the quality of the film/print is so bad that scratches pepper virtually every frame. Why couldn't they have stayed with videotape?

Broadcast 6th June 1973, when Wizzard's See My Baby Jive was at the top of the charts.
A favourite of Jack's?

He played a rather arrogant politician whose actress wife, played by the equally excellent Stephanie Beacham, had to be protected by the team (George Sewell and Patrick Mower) as her life was in danger. It transpired that it was Jack himself who killed the dog, caused the brakes in the car to go out of control, AND a bomb to explode while she was rehearsing in the theatre! He felt so superior that he was confident of getting away with it, because of his high position, but recent 'Unmentioned Actor' Richard Leech, as the Chief Superintendent, eventually authorised Jack's arrest as the charges were "too severe"! One of the more entertaining episodes of the later series.

I'll find a nice capture of Jack and Stephanie for next time as they worked well together.
