Most famous for playing the accused Tom Robinson, defended by Gregory Peck in "To Kill a Mockingbird", Peters appeared in "Heavens Above" and Bryan Forbe's "The L-Shaped Room" around the same time.

Sad to hear of his death. To Kill A Mockingbird has been my favourite book since reading for my O Level English Literature in 1978/9 and Atticus Finch's defence speech of Tom Robinson is probably in IMHO one of the greatest passages in literature.
In about the same period of reading the book,I went to London with my parents mainly to see my newly born nephew and my dad and myself went to the Old Bailey - as merely tourists - and the court we witnessed a trial over a black man accused of rape (or murder) and his name was Tom Robinson. Was Brock Peters in another Britsh film not mentioned here? Again BROCK PETERS:1927-2005 RIP Ta Ta Marky B
