Fame comes to some people late in life, giving us all hope (for those that want that sort of thing - not me!).

Can anyone come up with some good contenders? For starters we have:

Sydney Greetstreet aged 61 in The Maltese Falcon;
Bert Palmer aged 61 in A Kind of Loving.

Bert was in the sitcom I Didn't Know You Cared (1975) with Liz Smith who herself was in her 50s before hitting the big time.

Any more names you experts out there?

Margaret Rutherford was 53 when she achieved national fame as Madame Arcati in the film of BLITHE SPIRIT although she had played the role on stage 3 years earlier.

Katie Johnson was in her late 70's when getting the plum role of Mrs Wiberforce in The Ladykillers.
