It was great to see Peter Copley in Roman Polanski's recent version of Oliver Twist. A few more veterans who are still performing include Ian Carmichael (86), Christopher Lee (84), Richard Attenborough (82) and Donald Sinden (82). I also seem to recall Herbert Lom (now 88) appearing in the first series of Marple, while Leslie Phillips (82) has a new film out soon called Venus opposite Peter O'Toole and Vanessa Redgrave.

Phil Turner

Default Oldest Living British Actors

Thank you all for your wonderful responses regarding "Oldest Living British Actors."

A few of them I'm familiar with, Norman Wisdom, Herbot Lom.

I adored Keiron Moore, and I do believe he is alive and well, but not sure if he's still working at his craft or not.

He was a special guest last week at a Bert Brecht special and tonight he
was a guest in a TV Show. He is 102 and he gets 103 on December the 5th.
He is recording records of classical German music and has released some
new ones this year !!
Look at his Own Offical Website:

He lives at Starnberger See, Bavaria.
He is each day in a Fitness Studio and he likes to swim in his pool.
He look very handsome at his high age and he is a Legend of German movies

George Cole is coming up 82, which doesn't qualify him as Oldest Working Actor, but he is still on the treadmill. I wasn't impressed with his role in A Class Apart, hopefully he has better parts in the pipeline.

Default oldest actor and actress still working and that worked

Griffith Jones 1909-2007 only retired from acting aged 90 so he must be with oldest.

96, when unexpectedly run out.

When an old cricketer leaves the crease, you never know whether he's gone,
If sometimes you're catching a fleeting glimpse, of a twelfth man at silly mid-on.
And it could be Geoff, and it could be John

She wasn't acting, but Athene Seyler appeared on Wogan when she was 100.

Appearing on a chat show might not be "acting" but it's still a performance :

She was only 77 when she did that. The way some people look older than they are is very clever. It's called "acting" :

no record but worth a mention.
Charles Lane, American, born 1905; appeared on tv program at age 90; interviewed on his hundredth birthday, stated ( jokingly, I hope) that he was available for work. Difficult to name a hollywood movie in which he didn't appear.
Last I heard, he was still alive and maybe, available.

Default Charles Lane

There are a couple of documentaries due to be released with his involvement. He appeared on TCM on the occasion of his centenary in a retrospective interview.

Lillian Gish must be a candidate for the oldest starring role: 94 when she made The Whales of August with Bette Davis (then just over 80, but appearing much older than Gish).

Anna Lee was still appearing in a regular role aged 90 on American TV. Betty Driver hasn't got far to go to match that in Corrie.

Estelle Winwood was 91 (off the top of my head) in Murder by Death.

Well I reckon George Burns will take some beating. He died at the age of 100 and appeared in his last film at................98! Wow!
