It is called Diane's Theme and is on her first (I believe) album, The Diane Solomon Showcase, Side 1 - Track 1 and Side 2 Track 7. Pub. 1974 on Philips 6308 215.

Dave.

Hello Diane,

I found this site from a mention of it on CONVERSATIONS - The Cilla Black Forum.

I had often wondered what had become of you. I never got to see you 'live', but I very much enjoyed watching your BBC TV Shows and have four of your albums; The Diane Solomon Showcase, Diane Solomon - Take Two, Mixed Feelings - Diane Solomon and One Step At A Time.

I was sorry to hear about your health problems but pleased that you've now recovered and continue to sing and play guitar and piano. I would love to be able to obtain a copy of your new CD and do hope you manage to set up a website so we can follow your musical activities! I'll look forward to any future news about it that you may have.

Wishing you health, happiness and success for the future.

Regards,

Dave.

Question Diane Solomon Album - Mixed Feelings

Cannot believe that I have found this site and that you all remember this great album.
Well I am trying so hard to get hold of a copy - tape or record as my two daughter and I keep singing the song "cRISPY bACON mORNING!"
Trouble is I cannot remember the words and only know the chorus up to the eggs are turning black!

We run a B&B over here in NZ and my 4 and 6 year old love helping me get the breakfasts ready and it wouls be so special for them if I could get hold of this album and sing along together like I did with my Mum and Dad many moons ago

If you can help do let me know!

The other songs we so great too. II can remember singing along in the back of the car on long journeys in the UK when I was kid

I am not sure how this forum site works as it says I need to make 3 listings before I could contact Diane directly. Any suggestions on how I do this.

My girls really think I am a "Magic Mum" finding a site that Diane actually communicates on!!

Would be great to hear from any of you and thanks for having the same memories as me .....its makes getting older fun!

Default Diane Solomon

Hello Cookie123,

The title of the song that mentions a chair is His House and Me and the words to the song Crispy Bacon Morning are as follows:

CRISPY BACON MORNING

There's a rumpled pile of bedclothes and a tousled sleepy head
A mutter and a moan comes from somewhere in the bed
I've a great big pile of papers and a mug of coffee too
Oh lazy love I've been up for hours, well maybe a minute or two

It's a crispy bacon mornin', the toast is in the rack
The orange juice is chilling but the eggs are turnin' black
I don't even worry, I throw them all away
Today is lovely Sunday and we have got all day

Cuddles in the mornin', that stretch to afternoon
Sleepy yawns and silly songs and an old, old film or two
Maybe a little gardening and then an evening quietly
Early bed for Monday but the very best time for me is

The crispy bacon mornin', the toast is in the rack
The orange juice is chilling but the eggs are turnin' black
But I don't even worry, I throw them all away
Today is lovely Sunday and we have got all day

So come sit by the fire with me
And make the most of Sunday as it goes by
Cos the terrible fact you see
Is the whole long week before another

Crispy bacon mornin', the toast is in the rack
The orange juice is chilling but the eggs are turnin' black
Oh, I don't even worry, I throw them all away
Cos today is lovely Sunday and we have got all day
Today is lovely Sunday and we have got all day.

and the words to His House and Me are:

HIS HOUSE AND ME

Over by the fire there stands a chair, that's the chair he used to sit in
His favourite chair now seems so bare, so empty and alone
In the closet hangs a worn out shirt, that's the shirt he'd lie around in
That poor shirt left hanging there, that he no longer wears

This once was the house were he used to live with me
O-o-o-oh, this once was his house, the house where he lived with me
He left this house and me

Upstairs on the bed, his pillow lies there patiently awaiting
For his return, I know it yearns to ease his weary head
And dancing on the wall are shadows, most reminding me of his laughter
That filled our home but now there's none just empty tears and air

This once was the house were he used to live with me
O-o-o-oh, this once was his house, the house where he lived with me
But he left this house and me

O-o-o-oh, this once was the house were he used to live with me
He left this house and me.

Regards,

Dave.

Talking Yep you guessed it...Me Too!!

Hi Diane and everyone,

I can't believe I've stumbled across this site, with conversations about Diane Solomon.

In the 70's, I like many had a huge crush on Diane, so much so that it's stayed into adulthood and I now look for that look in women.

I was once at a BMW convention in England (late 90's, I don't know if you remember the show Diane?) and low and behold who was the guest star...Only Diane Soloman.
I couldn't believe my eye's, infact a colleague of mine put her hand under my chin to close my mouth!
I just sat there mesmerised by the whole performance, the only thing that spoiled it was some drunken idiot at the next table trying to sing along to "Great balls of fire"
Fortunately, Diane acted very professionally and carried on with her beautiful version of the song.

Anyway, I'll certainly be checking back to see what's new on here about you Diane, good to here your in better health too.
Please please come back to England and sing for us all again.

Take care everyone.

Hello, 1st time posting so take it easy on me.

I came across this site whilst digging around looking for some pictures of when Diane recorded a song from The Downs in Bristol which was shown on her Show.

I was part of the crowd in this recording in which, from memory, everyone was playing guitars. I remember Diane at the front of the crown with all the "normo's" behind. It would be great to find a picture of this.

I am sketchy on the exact details as i could only have been 8 or 9. (I was best at guitar in my junior school ) .

This did help on the day because i was only likkle and was in the front of the crowd

Off to troll the site for other goodies.

Thanks

hej colin
i am very keen on dianne solomon and think i got only one cassette but not listened to it for many years. but i have just emigrated to sweden to semi-retire and was keen to keep in touch with uk and tv,music. i used to watch dianne on tv with my dear old dad and we thought she was great. i think she started by singing in hotels, etc and some producer spotted her and then from there, not sure. anyway i would love to listen to her again.
i think she was from canada. can you copy any of her music?

you never know what you've got til its gone

Smile Another Diane Fan

Hello Diane & all on the thread,

I too was a teenager with a crush and infact joined the fan club and wrote letters. Guess what Diane, you actually replied which was a big deal for me. So good to hear about you and I would love to hear your latest music so when you get your act together post the details for all of us.

I had the showcase album but it didn't survive the divorce!

I can also share the amazement of others on the thread that it's possible to get in touch like this.

What a wonderful world..

Hi Everyone & of course Diane too,

I was lucky enough to catch you in concert once in Oxford & twice in Bedford of all places, just
missed you with Glenn Campbell in the UK as well. All three shows were absolutely great & wonderful evenings. On the first Bedford concert we qued for a while to meet you after the performance, a real bonus, I still have your autographed copy of the `Showcase` LP. My three favourities of yours have always been, Diane's Theme, The Letter & Help me Make it Through the Night.

Like many of the folk on this thread, I am very interested in knowing when your soft country CD is likely to be available & any idea as yet when your website might be up & running thanks.

Best Wishes to you & everyone.

Diane was actually Canadian.

She was 'discovered' by a BBC producer whilst working in London singing, which washow she got her break into UK TV.

The last i heard was that she had gone back to live in Canada
