I was always a Temple fan from the radio days with Peter Coke, and the theme tune "Coronation Scot", which used to raise the hairs on my neck with suspense.
I enjoyed seeing you in the television series, and thought you pulled it off well.
One thing is baffling me though, I am sure that you did a series with Dick Emery and Anna Dawson in the eighties possibly, but I can find no record of it.
If you have the time, would you please remind us of the details?
You did a bit of singing in it, didn't you?

Bob Kellatt has been releasing his films through Digital Classics (Digital Classics DVD), a fine DVD company, and was due to release Just Like A Woman but they were having problems obtaining a decent print to work with. I spoke to Robert Fuest but he did not have his own print. Hopefully these issues will be resolved and we shall see its release.

which supported ACCIDENT on its release.
Wendy Craig (from THE SERVANT), Dennis Price, Francis Matthews, John Wood are in the cast (plus a ' hip' jazz vocal from US singer Mark Murphy.....)


Looking forward to seeing this, as it hasn't been on UK tv for 30 years !

Spike Milligan has been similarly treated by the BBC, so you're in good company !

The episodes of Paul Temple that the BBC hold were repeated a few years ago on UKTV Gold, and do include some that are excellent including 'Games People Play', 'Cue Murder' and 'Death at Fasching'. The contrast between the continental location filming and the VT studio interiors does jar at times, but there are some great scripts and performances. I believe the German company that holds episodes do have the original dubs as well - but I'm not 100% sure.

I love synchronicity! Only found this forum tonight, and just yesterday my husband and I were reminiscing about TV shows we used to enjoy which, of course, included the Paul Temple series, and here is the wonderful Francis himself. I'm delighted to 'see' you in such good form :)

Hello Jackdaw. I guested in two of the "Dick Emery" Shows for BBC, but the show you're thinking of is two six-part comedy sketch Series I did with Leslie Crowther and Anna Dawson. As well as all the comedy we did many musical numbers and always ended the show with a topical parody of "Let's do it", based on Noel Coward's own parody of the Cole Porter number. The shows were recorded with an audience at ATV Studios Elstree, before the Beeb took it over.They were called "The Crowther Collection"

I am amazed, DS, that so many of you folk know so much more than I do about my past !! I thought everything I had ever appeared in (and it was a lot) was long dead and buried. And all I wanted to do was complain about being dubbed a "shuffler" !

Francis, I am very interested in British second features, and wonder if you have any memories of a film in which you starred titled The Lamp in Assassin Mews (1962)
