I remember Francis from the radio - a show called "Stop the World" on Radio 2 I think....

It's a long time since I saw Paul Temple, but I am referring to the woman who played his wife/partner.Unless I'm getting mixed up with someone else.

You're right .... but she stopped acting in 1971. I wondered whether Ros Drinkwater the journalist is the same person and had changed careers.

I seem to have opened a Pandora's Box ! I only wanted to defend my capability to walk in a straight line! I have little experience of using forums like this and don't know how to reply to all the queries. However: (Cooper S.) "Temple" has never been either repeated or released in England (unlike Germany). The BBC never so much as mention it. I believe they still have a few of the worst in the archives, but the rest are in IIRC's vaults ( and dubbed into German). "Don't forget to Write" was superlatively written by Charles Wood, based on his own love/hate friendship with Peter Nicholls. The BBC dumped that as well. Maybe they're trying to tell me something !! (Steve R.) Yes it is , I'm ashamed to say, me.....but thanks for the welcome. And Hello Lord Brett. If John Moxey is picking this up, no apology necessary and great to hear from you. How could I forget "The Funabulists". I did do SOME good Television. Sorry. I don't know how to reply to you privately. I've tried.

That was discussed by George Cole last night in an interview on telly. They showed a brief clip with Mr. Cole in it, so something still exists.

If you have tried to send a Private Message and not been successful it may be that there is a restriction until you've done more 'general' messages............I'm sure someone with much more experience than I have will be telling you very soon!

You don't have to defend anything - you're very highly thought of here!

JLM will, no doubt 'pop in' later, so I've highlighted your comment for him.

Ros is alive and well and living in Ireland. After "Paul Temple" she did indeed take up photographic journalism.

Sorry ML. When I say "dumped" I mean it is never referred to in any retrospectives. I saw George's interview last night. Very nostalgic feelings.

It was released with ACCIDENT on the Odeon circuit
Sorry JC, I haven't heard anything about plans to release JUST LIKE A WOMAN on DVD. It would be good to see. The stylistic design of the movie is a vivid record of the 60s., and there are wonderful cameo performances from many of our best talents, as well as photography by the great Billy Williams.

I would love to see "Don't Forget To Write!" again. It's one of life's great mysteries why the BBC have never repeated it.

I was also a fan of the Paul Temple series. In fact, anything written by Francis Durbridge. So many "forgotten" series are appearing on DVD now, it would good to think something popular like Paul Temple isn't far behind!
