Default John Richardson

I saw him recently in 'SHE' and also wondered what ever happened to him. Perhaps he worked abroad because there was no work or not what he wanted. Now in his 70s perhaps he just had enough of showbusiness?

IMDB is always a useful resource: John Richardson (I)

Classically handsome John Richardson began his career with small roles in British movies at the end of the 50s. His big success was Don Chaffey's One Million Years B.C. (1966) with Raquel Welch, produced by Hammer films. Later, following the steps of some other actors, he went on to appear in various Italian movies such as Umberto Lenzi's horror Gatti rossi in un labirinto di vetroMichele Soavi's Chiesa, La (1989) and many others. Richardson's great passion was collecting automobiles and he sometimes appeared in films as long as a car was included in the contract. But his recent infamous movies filmed in the 90s convinced him to quit acting completely. Now, he is a noteworthy photographer with no desire whatsoever in looking back on his career in cinema. He is now living in a small town somewhere in the United Kingdom. (Internet Movie Database)

I believe Jeremy Spenser was a child actor? If correct and my memory is intact he seemed to appear in a lot of British films, mostly as the son of a solicitor, or MP. I think the last film I saw him in was the Vivien Leigh film 'The Spring of Mrs Stone' based on a Tennesse Williams book, or was it play? I have not heard of him since!

A few years ago (around the turn of the decade) Jeremy was for a couple of years a member of Battersea Chess Club in London, which I still belong to. I remember him well and played quite a few friendly games against him. He was a very decent standard club player, wore a cravatte and liked drinking red wine! There was one season when he captained one of the teams. I was not at the time aware of his acting past and have just spent the last couple of hours in a state of amazement watching him in the film "The Prince and the Showgirl" with Marilyn Monroe and Laurence Olivier, where Jeremy has an important role playing the King of Carpathia visiting a royal wedding in England (Olivier is the Prince Regent who has a fling with a showgirl (Monroe) - he is also secretly plotting his father's downfall and the showgirl becomes aware of this. At one point, to my considerable amusement, Marilyn refers to my former chess club colleague as a "naughty boy". As noted in one of the other posts, the last we heard of him at the club, he was going to move to the West Country.
