Ew10
Just to make us oldies feel even older, I realised last week that 'Emergency Ward 10' celebrates it's 50th Anniversary next year!
It ran from 1957-1967 when Lou Grade 'pulled the plug' on his own programme because the ratings had begun to fall. He always said that it was one of the two worst decisions he ever made - the other, I believe, being to make the film, 'Raising The Titanic'; he said it went so much over budget that it would have been cheaper to lower the Atlantic!
If you find a cast last, it is amazing how many of the actors in it are still alive and working on stage and TV - including Richard Thorp (Emmerdale), Pauline Collins, John Alderton, Charles Tingwell, John Carlisle etc - and some of the actors who passed through the hospital beds were: Albert Finney, Joanna Lumley and Edward Woodward.
As EW10 was the forerunner of all of the medical dramas we see today (it preceded 'Dr Kildare' I believe), I hope that ITV see fit to run a tribute to it.
Starry x
