Default Peter Boyle, R.I.P.

At age 71, he passed away. Oct 13, 1935 to Dec 12, 2006. To be buried in New York on Monday, Dec 18th.

With YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN on his resumé, I'm not sure an actor needs another high point.

Gene Wilder says, "I always wished we'd done more films together."

Gene Hackman says, "We shared my favorite scene in my career in Young Frankenstein."

Nice as Lamont Cranston's cabbie in THE SHADOW (1994)... he said most of his work was left on the cutting-room floor, and he thought there'd be a sequel or two.

Hard-nosed detective in TURK 182, (1985) trying to bust Timothy Hutton...

THE BRINK'S JOB (1978) as one of the bandits...

TAXI DRIVER (1976) in his wizard role...

THE CANDIDATE (1972) as Robert Redford's campaign manager...

I didn't realize he was in MEDIUM COOL. I need to pull that out again.

A lot of big films in there, a lot of small roles in lost films, too. But I'll give Gene Hackman kudos on this - if I was going to hash over one scene in my head, over and over, I think it'd be the Blindman Meets The Monster in YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. Cigars!

I'll remember him best for his bigoted blue collar psycho in JOE - generally an underrated actor who had real power when he got a role worthy of his talents.

He played the cranky, miserable grandfather in Everybody Loves Raymond, plus he was in one of Sean Connery's post-Bond films: Outland.

Loved Peter in 'The Dream Team' with Michael Keaton and Christopher Lloyd and he has always been my main reason for watching 'Everybody Loves Raymond'. He will be missed.
There are some rather frail looking photos of him on IMDB from last year - he obviously had been ill for some time. It also says on there that he was a good friend of John Lennon who was best man at his wedding.

RIP Peter.

Starry x
