i had never even heard of him until about fifteen years ago bbc2 repeated an episode of his sketch show and my brother made me watch it. i was about twelve at the time and the moment i seen his bulging eyes i started giggling. my favourite sketch was 'a day in the life of a stuntman', i remember when he leaves a building he jumps out of the window instead of using the stairs, to show this they chucked a dummy out of the window, when it hits the ground marty gets up, the effects were terrible but it added to the hilarity. just the sight of him wearing a bowler hat with his bulging eyes had me in stitches!

Well, they do say the secret of comedy is timing...but I think his death came at a particularly poor time (Is there a good one?) as he had the ability and track record to do as Peter Cook did, and become a father figure, patron saint almost, of the next generation of comics, the alternative bunch. His sixties work prefigured much of what became fashionable in the years after his death...he was ripe for rediscovery.
Oh yes, I completely agree. And he'd actually already started down that road...helping out aspiring writers and emerging talent, as the program and other things have noted before. Marty would have been great for that. Oh and Peter Cook rocks!

That stunt man sketch is classic and I know exactly what you mean about how fake the window jump looks. But then, at the same time, to think that something of that magnitude was one of the very few stunts that Feldman actually didn't do himself, it's pretty cool. So you can't jump out of a window? No but you did everything else! haha.

I wrote a review of the BBC4 program for our college paper and I've posted it on my MF MySpace page, if anyone is interested:
